C - D = 6

A + B = 8

C - D = 6

A + C = 13

B + D = 8

A=3.5
B=4.5
C=9.5
D=3.5

Solution:

B+D = 8
+
C-D = 6
=
B+C = 14

B+C = 14
-
A+C = 13
=
B-A = 1
B = A+1

Substitute B to equation 1
A + (A+1) = 8
2A = 7
A = 3.5

B = 8 - A = 4.5
C = 13 - A = 9.5
D = 8 - B = 3.5

A and D are not unique after all.

What a shame! I thought I can get away in getting the answer without me solving it manually but this is only good for 3 equations with 3 unknowns.



I think I need to open MATLAB and let the computer do the work for me or perhaps I should exercise my brain. I better look for a pen and paper.
