I bought TEL when it was at the 2,400-2,600 level. Sold it at around 3,000. 20% gain in a span of about 4 months.

Right now TEL has been sideways at 2,100 and I doubt that it'll rise rapidly anytime soon.

Sharing Benjamin Graham's conclusion in his book, "The Intelligent Investor":

[QUOTE]To achieve satisfactory investment results is easier than most people realize. To achieve superior results is harder than it looks.

What does it mean? It's easy to get results that are similar to the market's movements - just invest in an index fund. If you invested 10k regularly every January from 2011 to 2015, then sold on June 2015, you'd have 69.3k, or close to a 40% gain. This is what you'd call a satisfactory result.

If you try to pick your own stocks, you may or may not beat this result. Even among professionally managed mutual funds, very few beat the market consistently over several years.

Talk about speculative: after news spread that the DENR post was being offered to Gina Lopez, the Mining-Oil index is down -3.37%.

imho most likely she'll accept the position -- the DENR post is an environmentalist's wet dream.

I don't invest in speculative stocks bro, much less speculative IPOs. For every Double Dragon, there are dozens that fall to oblivion.

Yung NIKL napasubo lang ako because I bought when I was starting out with stocks and it was a pick that was recommended by my friend who's an equity analyst. At the time, we were the biggest nickel supplier to China so NIKL doubled within a few months. Then of course the Chinese economy slowed and now it's less than 1/4 its value in 2014. Lessons learned the hard way - slow and steady wins the race; and never put your money into something you don't understand yourself.
