September 17th, 2015 03:40 AM #1961The service folks saw an error while scanning. They did reset something and the errors were gone. I think it's similar to bmw/benz when replacing battery. Did not see any issues so far. It makes you think about the delicate and complex electronics that CX-5 has. My father is a staunch opponent of push start. There are more possible issues than benefits. I think I am already an anti push start convert.
Issue resolution and debugging though has gone high tech. No more guessing game. They can see almost everything in scans

You still need an experienced technician to decipher error codes properly. There were instances before of BMWs and high end luxury cars having error codes in the fuel system and the culprit was just a loose fuel cap. Apparently, the pressure sensor in the gas tank lit up several error codes.

September 17th, 2015 01:36 PM #1964Though, while I hate issues happening to me, I still think the technology has to move forward. If moving forward means going into the direction of push start and smart key fobs, then they have to continously improve it. Right now though, I hate push starts but we have to move forward

September 17th, 2015 01:42 PM #1965We will slowly have the right knowledge and expertise in the near future. Soon, everyone will have scanners in their casa just to keep up with the technology. I am guessing we are right at the start of a new technological change that was once only available in luxury cars
I am hoping for a future where all cars have direct link to car computers in the glove compartment or error monitoring in the car AV system making diagnostic owner friendly.

^that will go against the current business model of bringing the patient to the doctor
Making a doctor in most owners is a business proposition that will bring them out of business. they (manufacturers & dealers) wont do it that way. These error codes are closely guarded trade secrets
Your only hope to make this happen is a third party who possess the golden heart to emancipate consumers from the shackles of the main players of the car industryLast edited by kisshmet; September 17th, 2015 at 05:41 PM.

September 18th, 2015 05:40 AM #1968Yeah, it is completely different in the IT business wherein the direction is to push tools and dashboards to reduce the need of support for simple things. Something like self service support. Though in the bigger picture, the earnings of the dealers does not really affect the OEMs a lot. The dealer can earn money in service that does not really translate to income for OEM.
If the OEM can create value added features that may incentivize people to buy, then more income for the OEM. If they can create self service diagnostic that will make maintenance easier for the end user, more people would eventually buy or at least push more demand without sacrificing a lot of revenue for the dealers. If more people buy, more margins for dealers albeit lesser income on service. Yojin is free service for three years anyway so no real loss for the dealer
the old style business model of over reliance does not have a place in today's technology age.

September 21st, 2015 02:08 PM #1969Hi! Planning on getting a CX-5 Pro. Any recommended dealers? Or any particular dealers to avoid?
How are your maintenance costs, outside of the Yojin warranty?
Thank you in advance for your inputs and advise.

October 4th, 2015 03:24 PM #1970Hi folks, I'm getting the CX-5 Maxx via Bank PO. So far they offered me a 50k discount from the SRP of 1.344 M. I plan to put them on the spot after test drive to give me a 60k discount. Is a 60k discount a good deal? Or some other casa can offer 70 or even 80k as discount. By the way, the offeror was Mazda Sta. Rosa.
A 70/30 water to coolant mix may improve cooling efficiency but that's at the cost of less...
Coolant...
