I tried wireless repeater setup dati and it gets finicky. Granted asus firmware is buggy.

Ended up just slapping in a 9dbi antenna on the old tomato router and na solve ang dead spot issues ko.

There are tutorials around the net. Some routers in fact automatically go into AP mode when you connect the LAN cable coming from the new router to any LAN port other than the WAN port of the older router.

If you want a reliable range extender, use wired connection in between the routers.

In my case, 100m limit of CAT5 UTP isn't an option hence i used a line driver with GdotSHDSL capable of 15MB per line extended rates. House A & B is 150m away, I laid the wire along the fence.

    House A modem - Cisco EA2750 - Gdot back2back modem via 150m twisted wire - House B Cisco E1700 bridge mode.

Aside from the same subnet in house A & B, I get to enjoy movie files connected on USB of router A. The CCTV rides on the same network in a separate VLAN of the modem.

    Question mga Sir/Ma'am,

May effect ba pag nag direct connect ako ng another TP LInk router to our PLDT DSL using CAT5E cable? may ibibigay din po ba yung na wifi signal if ever i-place ko siya sa 2nd floor ng house namin?

    Salamat

Yes, direct connect via cat5e to main router to extend your wifi signal is so much better than wireless extender... although may signal lost...

Depende sa material between the first floor and the second (e.g. thick concrete or wood). Pwede humina ang signal galing dun sa 2nd floor going to the first floor. But then why connect sa second floor router kung nasa first floor ka naman?

Its the same as repeater... wds so other router/extender can repeat your wifi signal through access points...

Similar router with the below specs would help to boost your wifi signal...

It’s Lynksis... try similar spec with tenda brand, they are cheaper...

In our house, i used to have extender but sometimes signal/internet drop, what i did is, i relocate the router to the center of our house, luckily may mga signal doon sa lugar na need ng extender... but upgraded my router as well to a better one... yung need lang namin na specs...

    goodluck sir.

I have tried yung 3 and 3c almost the same performance except yung 3c may usb output and an extra lan. The signal is a lot stronger than my other routers (dlink, linksys, tenda, apple) except for the ubiquiti.
Downside is the parental control is not working. Have not tested for speed but i watch youtube and netflix without any problems.

Someone advised me before that a higher gain antenna will widen the coverage but will "flatten" it as well. So, it will reach further on the floor where the router is but the top and/or bottom floor will get weaker signal.

WDS usually requires similar hardware (same brand, same router model) to work without a hitch.
