He was not intent on selling it as it is an heirloom. However, I do have an anecdote with an old friend from my Magic The Gathering tournament days before.
Back in 2002, one of the constant folks I play with was a guy from Los Banos. While we were playing at Neutral Grounds Glorieta (in its old location), he was telling me that his grandpa gave him a watch. He was pissed because he was asking for a G-Shock. He complained that the watch was not working (he did not know it was an automatic) and it did not even come with a strap. I asked him to describe it. He said the face had multiple dials and small graduated numbers on the face edge. I asked him if one it had a "B" and wings on its logo. He said yes and I asked him if he is planning to sell it. He said he will be happy to take 10k for it. I said I will take it and I will pay for it the next day.
The next day, we met up and he was wearing a grin on his face. He told me I was such a devious *$$ and no way he will part with a Breitling for 10k. Apparently, on his way home to take the bus to Los Banos, he happened to see the same logo at Lucerne. He saw a newer version of the watch and it was priced 250k+. The strap alone is more than 10k. If luck had its way and my friend didn't see Lucerne, I would have gotten myself a Breitling Navitimer for 10k!!!!![]()

That is why I said some only, construed more specifically as a few. And never did I insinuate that watches are the only ones nor the more accurate basis of time. Iirc some watch do appreciate in time but obviously yung mga collector's item. I may have worded it wrongfully without intent. hehe
If my father had not given me a watch, I may not ever had one nor would have bought some more. Used my old nokia 5110 as timekeeper for a long time even when working already.![]()
yes there are really some watches that hold their value well. just imagine early to mid 2000s 2tone submariners still sell for 300-350k now. wonder how much they were brand new back then

My 7002's crown/stem broke, good thing the seller replaced it free of charge with a different unit.
Missed my BMBY by one month! So my watch is a month older than I am. 😂

Sloppy di ba? I sent him a Tissot to test his workmanship. Nawala yung ibang scratches pero may nadagdag sa ibang area.
Akala ko naman pag mas mahal na watch mas maingat sya. Kahit Tag pala di rin nya nagawa ng maayos. Can't imagine how other people could trust him with their Rolexes hehe.
At least you weren't swimming with it when it broke bro. Reminds me of a guy who had a pusher come off his Speedy Pro while he was swimming. He was in a place with no decent watch service so the watch was soaked for a while.
This is what the movement looked like:
From Archer Watches:
Miraculously, Al (the watchmaker) was able to salvage most of the movement believe it or not. Full story here:

I read the article. Damn that looked nasty. Props to the watchmaker for getting it back to good running condition. There are so many moving parts, it's impressive that you can actually order them by piece.
I don't think I'll ever go swimming with a watch on. 😂

Al Archer (the watchmaker) is the go to watchmaker in Watchuseek. He has an Omega parts account so getting parts for him is easy. Re: having so many parts, told you that's one of the reasons why I don't get chronos hehe.
He's a great watchmaker. He'll make recommendations but in the end let you decide what you want done (or not). Service from him includes a cd that documents the entire service process from disassembly to assembly.
But what are divers for if not for swimming? I'd just get the gaskets checked for water tightness if the watch is an older one. ☺

I am really not a watch person and I only have the gear s2 as my daily wear, regardless of the ocassion. My father usually asked for hand me downs but when I looked into the box this morning, I was surprised to see a 25+ something seiko diver, a 5+ old Fossil and a never been used gshock. Wonder if I should give it away for Christmas or sell at ebay.
