    i googled the james bond watches.
    i was surprised, because contrary to my belief, the first episodes did not omega. they gruened, rolexed, seiko-ed, etc.
    omega's reign started in goldeneye, in 1995.

    Yup. Rolex was the first Bond watch. IIRC, even Hamilton made it on one of the Roger Moore Bond films.

    i mentioned this tidbit some time back.
    i asked a hongkong (singapore?) taxi driver why he and other drivers like him, wore rolex.
    his answer, "instant money".

    from what i understood, he with bloken engrish,
    in case the driver gets into a situation wherein he needs to cough up a significant amount of money, he just removes his rolex and hands it over.
