8-10k, i think you can get a Kodak C series. around 4 megapixels... pero basic point and shoot lang. wala atang manual mode.

yung canon powershot a430 ng wife ko, she got it at around 12k, brand new. may kasama ng 256 MB MMC.

may manual mode, 4 mpx. may video recording mode (size dependent on the mmc), other features. dagdag ka na lang ng onti.

I am curious as well. You invest P50,000 in an entry level digital SLR with one sensor having millions of pixels. Would one dead pixel matter? How tough are the digital sensors?

Meron pa ring advantage yung nabaon sa limot na film cameras. Every shot you do is on a FRESH sensor, which is film. While you can't be sure of the life of a digital sensor, with film, you just look at the expiration date. Mind you, I also dream of a DSLR. Sorry medyo OT na.

How tough are the digital sensors? This isn't something you should worry about.... on DSLRs the shutter is the first thing to break AFAIK

I read somewhere that you need to make 570,000 shots before a cmos dead pixel starts showing up. The Flash memory inside the camera also has a lifespan, normally 100,000 erase/write cycles.

The theory here is that everytime a current passes through these microscopic cmos transistors, the oxide seperating the P-junction from the N-junction degrades. Eventually, this oxide degrades and becomes so thin that they will short out and cause a dead pixel or a corrupt memory.

Anyway, even before you can take 570,000 shots with your camera, baka obsolete na yung camera mo by that time anyway.

May mga cameras na may defect na sa CMOS from factory pa lang... normally di observable ang dead cells if you take daytime shots tapos the dead cell happens to fall into the light areas... if you do night photography nakikita agad sya as parang dot... as long as di naman critical yung area ng pic, pwede namang ma-heal sa photoshop...

BTW webcams are cheap just get a separate one to save wear on your digicam. I used to have a digicam w/ webcam capabilities, a Minolta. Never used the webcam function, too fussy to set up all the time...
Very slim nga. Thanks for the advice on the webcam. I'll just buy one.

A530 is BELOW that range. It's a decent cam but very plasticky, very bulky, tiny screen. To print a 4R you need just 2 megapixels.

All those people who have high-megapixels cams but just print 4R are wasting all those pixels.

If you get your film by bulk at Hidalgo (kahit 6 rolls lang) the substantial difference in price will put a smile on your face knowing that you've just saved from about 25% (ex. Kodak ISO 200, 36) to 30% (ex. Fujifilm ISO 100, 36) of the films' mall-price. If you have it developed and printed either at Columbia and Konica-Minolta, they give you free film of the same number of exposures.

I envy you, man. The Nikon F100 is a superb camera. I don't think that film will die. It may not be as popular now as digital but it will exist alongside digital for thousands more years, hehehe

    Happy shooting.

I got both a slim compact point and shoot kodak and a canon dslr. wala naman ma-adjust sa point and shoot eh: limited iso, shutter speed, Exposure compensation, white balance lang.

ni hindi ko magawa yun foreground/background blur or 3d-effect kasi walang aperture adjustment. isa pansin ko mga point and shoots parati auto-focus lang.

ewan ko sir ha, i highly doubt na wala sa camera kung magaling ka. sa shop, we use a superzoom camera. ganun din eh lumaki lang cmos censor and lens aperture pero di nya kaya talaga dslr pics.
