Panasonic installation successful! That 1" drain line is huge!
The whole system spent almost an hour on the vacuum pump. They kept it running while they were wiring and wrapping up the pipes.
I think I overpaid somewhere because they threw in a free breaker even when our box already had a breaker set aside just for the aircon.

January 12th, 2020 11:00 PM #1185So many posts on FB with conflicting advices. Some say don't use the aircon or it'll clog with ash or the ash will cause some kind of short circuit. Concepcion Industries says it's perfectly fine to use it.
So, which is correct?
I actually think it's okay to use it dahil air intake comes from indoor air. The outdoor unit blows air outwards naman.

January 12th, 2020 11:12 PM #1186where does the outdoor unit get the air that it blows outward?
from the outdoor air that may be contaminated by taal ash!
i think the answer to the question, is both a yes and a no, depending on conditions, to wit:
if the machine is a gas or diesel engine, the ash, which is actually very very fine crystal material, may be sucked in thru the air intake and not get filtered by the air filter. once it gets into the combustion chamber, it acts as sandpaper material, scouring the cylinder walls and causeing premature engine failure.
if it's our ordinary airconditioning units, the very fine ash will easily get blown thru and emerge past the aircon's heat exchange fins. no damage results.
but if the ash is heavy, it may clog these fins.
if the fine ash settles on our beautiful car's finish, and someone attempts to wipe it off using (any) cloth, that smooth paint job may get scratched beyond belief.
now, if the ash gets inhaled by humans and other animals... see the volcano thread. it's listed there.
my opinion.Last edited by dr. d; January 12th, 2020 at 11:18 PM.
