    Yes.

If you want longevity you might want to get an iPhone instead. All my Apple products outlived their useful lives. When I sold all my old iPhones they were still in good condition. Only my iPhone 5 had a weak battery but it was already almost 3 years old at the time.

Ooh oo nga no. I have very faint signs of burn in on my status bar. Never noticed until now. Can only be seen if you really look for it on a plain white background.

Heh, should really get rid of this S7. [emoji28]

That's such a hassle. I use my phone all day. I don't want to adjust to my phone. The phone should fit my needs and uses.

Then that is the greatest flaw of the galaxy s series, those amoled screens.. Other phones don't have such issues, i think. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Not saying it is a must or a practice for it but rather if you do this, it might lessen those screen marks or or issues. If you do this yet nothing happens, edi wala talaga..

Yung bulok kong xperia l since 2014 naka-ilang bagsak na and yet, the screen didn't have any marks at all and is still functioning today. Yun nga lang sobrang bagal na din kaya good for extra use na lang yung phone.

A lousy apple UI vs an android, you'd got for the former because of an isolated amoled defect?

Why not wag nalang gamitin yung phone para walang issues.

Pwede naman ata kapag matutulog sa gabi eh facedown ang phone. That will take care of the burn in imho.

Hindi ba mag -ooff ang notification if face down ang amoled screen?

Yan siguro ang best way to avoid it pero lalabas pa din siguro yung marks after some time.

Never pako nakaari ng samsung galaxy kaya di ko rin masabi how it is to experience that.

That's the reality so the only way to deal with it is to change phones often. Ok lang naman kasi bumabagal din naman ang phones after 2 years.

Pag never ginamit ang phone, never magkakaburn-in. The burn-in comes from the prolonged non-moving display on a certain part of the screen.

The burn in happens when the phone is in use. The AMOLED gets hot and the display on the screen becomes permanently displayed.

Think of it as dumidikit yung display and hindi bumabalik sa blank state. As the display ages and gets worn, the LED is more prone to burn-in.

Kaya pangit na din pala bumili ng 2nd hand phone. Even if na-format pa ata ito, it won't function a 100% when it was just new..

It stays kahit wala na yung light/backlight sa may screen? The reviewers of those phones should also know more about it.

No. Only when you use it. Pag nakapatay display, edi wala, all black.

Reviewers don't keep phones for two years so they don't encounter long term problems with the phones.

It's not really isolated. OLEDs are really more prone to burn-in than IPS screens.

Most people won't notice though. In fact I didn't notice that my S7 had slight hints of burn-in until StockEngine pointed out the propensity of the status bar to develop burn-in.

My brother buys and sells phones as a side gig. He's had several dozen S7s, S8s, Note 5s, and Note 8s. If the phone is subjected to bright displays of static images for prolonged periods of time, it increases the likelihood of screen burn-in. As the phone ages, the chances of burn-in also increase.

Bottomline - an old phone subjected to heavy use (especially with lots of static and bright displays) is susceptible to burn in.

Millions of OLED phones have been sold - not all of them develop burn-in, but those that are used heavily tend to have it.

i did the same, longest was 3 days fully switched off but ganun pa rin. i even used black wallpaper. so many fixes in the net, there are even app but it seems they don't work.

similarly sa TV's meron din issues of image retention o burn in sa mga OLED screens lalo sa mga matagal sa gaming. but latest LG OLED TV's meron na feature na refresh button to wipe out the retained image sa screen. sana sa phones meron din later na app that can do the same...

Bought my s7 flat secondhand last August 2016 so almost two years todate sakin plus gamit ng first owner so technically two years na. No problem with the screen, mabilis parin but sometimes bigla nalang maglolog then reboot kusa, this manifested just last month.
