The price of having a corrupt government. Overhead cost sa suhol to import the unit. The suhol accepted by DTI to turn a blind eye on profit gouging and price fixing.

price range varies kasi naka tie up sa plan offerings nila sa US yan...

    iPhone 5s - Buy iPhone 5s in 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB - Apple Store (U.S.)

sa kabilang thread na raise na rin yan nakaka malik mata if hindi nabasa yung offering. Ika nga they need to price this high as long as it sells as a hot item

The $175.00 is the cost of manufacturing an iphone. Not the contract free selling price.

Ganun kalaki ang patong ng Apple and retailers. Where do you think Apple got its $120,000,000,000.00 Cash?

The $175 is only the production cost. Add mo pa dyan marketing, taxes, shipping, and the markup of the retailers.

If you know business, mura lang shippinng, mga P25 per phone. Marketing costs about 2%/. No mattterr what you callculate,, malaki talaga ang mark--up ng Apple.

Latest Apple Cash: $146,000,000,000.00 or P6,350,000,000,000.00.

PH Monney iin Ciircuulation:: P4 Trillion...... 2Trillion less than Apple.

Apple unseats Coca-Cola as world's 'best brand'

Coca-Cola has lost its crown as the world's best brand, a closely watched survey said on Monday, unseated by the iconic iPhone and iPad maker Apple.

This marks the first time the soft drink missed the top spot on the "best global brand report", a line-up created in 2000 by marketing consultancy Interbrand, a unit of the Omnicom advertising conglomerate.

“Every so often, a company changes our lives -- not just with its products, but with its ethos," said Jez Frampton, Interbrand’s chief executive.
"This is why, following Coca-Cola’s 13-year run at the top of Best Global Brands, Apple now ranks #1,” he said.

In fact, Coca-Cola dropped two places in 2013, also losing to Google, the search engine, which came in second place.

Apple has always been on the list, beginning at #36 in 2000, but has slowly climbed the ranks.

But Interbrand warned Apple needed to keep a close eye on archrival Samsung (#9), especially on the crucial smartphone market.

"To maintain its number one position over the next year, Apple will have to slow rival Samsung’s momentum in the mobile market and never lose sight of what it does best: 'Think different'," the consultancy said.

According to Interbrand, the Apple brand is worth $98.31 billion, a 28 percent rise from the previous year with the Google brand weighing in at $93.29 billion.
Computing giants IBM and Microsoft fill out the top five.

Meanwhile, some recent rising stars have now lost their lustre.

Blackberry, the embattled phone maker, has disappeared from the list completely and Nokia, once the mobile phone leader, tumbled from 13th place to a lowly 57.
Social network Facebook meanwhile jumped to the 52 spot from 69.

    Samsung ranks #9.

How BlackBerry blew it: The inside story - The Globe and Mail

Mike Lazaridis was at home on his treadmill and watching television when he first saw the Apple iPhone in early 2007. There were a few things he didn’t understand about the product. So, that summer, he pried one open to look inside and was shocked. It was like Apple had stuffed a Mac computer into a cellphone, he thought.
Publicly, Mr. Lazaridis and Mr. Balsillie belittled the iPhone and its shortcomings, including its short battery life, weaker security and initial lack of e-mail. That earned them a reputation for being cocky and, eventually, out of touch. “That’s marketing,” Mr. Lazaridis explained. “You position your strengths against their weaknesses.”

Internally, he had a very different message. “If that thing catches on, we’re competing with a Mac, not a Nokia,” he recalled telling his staff.

wow, some dirty tactics eh, samsung?

Note 3’s benchmarking “adjustments” inflate scores by up to 20%

We noticed an odd thing while testing the Samsung Galaxy Note 3: it scores really, really well in benchmark tests—puzzlingly well, in fact. A quick comparison of its scores to the similarly specced LG G2 makes it clear that something fishy is going on, because Samsung's 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 blows the doors off LG's 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800. What makes one Snapdragon so different from the other?

After a good bit of sleuthing, we can confidently say that Samsung appears to be artificially boosting the US Note 3's benchmark scores with a special, high-power CPU mode that kicks in when the device runs a large number of popular benchmarking apps. Samsung did something similar with the international Galaxy S 4's GPU, but this is the first time we've seen the boost on a US device. We also found a way to disable this special CPU mode, so for the first time we can see just how much Samsung's benchmark optimizations affect benchmark scores.
