i've been using smart bro for almost a year now. there was this one time that the system was down for almost a week, and there have been occasional cut outs every now and then (causes lagging in Guild Wars). but overall, having worked for an ISP for many many years, the performance is quite acceptable.

i've only had experience with their CSR once. a bad experience (password recovery). the wench put me through their whole damn re-configuration procedure (when all i needed was the password so that PPPoE would work!) which took 30 minutes of restarting. and i was on a cell phone.

gusto ko talagang batukan at sabihan na i'm not your typical clueless user whom that flowchart is for, i've been in the ISP industry for 10 years. pero tiniis ko nalang para di humaba yung kwento.

i'll never call their CS again. here's hoping my connection stays reliable enough so i don't have to.

one thing to understand is that, this being a retail offering, 100% or even 99% uptime should not be expected, not at this price point. since i had that expectation from the beginning, i have not been disappointed.

    http://www.philmug.ph/forum/showthread.php?t=17095

    FYI.

For all those asking, here are the mechanics of SmartBro's Wi-Fly offer:

The Smart Bro tie-up with Airborne Access (AA) is the very FIRST value-added service of Smart Bro that is offered to all active subscribers under Plan999 for a very low price of P99 per month. The subscriber can now access the internet anywhere there is an Airborne Access hotspot.

    PROMO PERIOD:
    16 October 2006 - 15 January 2007

    PROMO MECHANICS:

The P99 WiFly Promo will only be available with a lock-in period of six (6) continuous months. Pretermination fee applies when subscriber requests for disconnection before the contract ends. (99 x remaining months = WiFly PTF)

    · After the promo period, the regular price of WiFly is P199.

    · Smart Bro subscribers under Plan 988 and 788 shall request for plan upgrade (to WF999) before they can avail of the promo, therefore they can only apply for WiFly at the Wireless Center.

    · Smart Bro subscribers under Plan 788 who upgrade to WF999 will have one month FREE of Airborne Access service. This free month will be applied on the 6th month.

    · The P99 rate will be reflected on the bill from the next cycle cut-off.

    · WiFly subscription forms are delivered to all Smart Bro subscribers as direct mailers enclosed with the monthly billing statement. These forms are also available at the Wireless Center, and Smart Bro website.

    APPLICATION PROCEDURE:

Subscriber calls *1888 or 6727277 to inquire about WiFly. The customer service rep will give the necessary info about the promo.

Documentary Requirements that will be sent through Email / Fax
    i. Fully accomplished WiFly Application Form with signature of account owner
    ii. Proof of Identification

    Email Address: customercare*smart.com.ph
    Fax Numbers: 8488870 or 8488807

    WiFly activation process:
    i. 24 hours after submission of complete requirements, subscriber shall visit the website of Airborne Access (www.airborneaccess.net) for registration. There's a link to activate your Wi-Fly account.

ii. Subscriber shall use the Service Reference Number and Account Number as Username and Password respectively to log in.

iii. After logging in, subscriber has the option to change the username and password for his/her WiFly account.

    AFTERSALES

    · For Technical concerns on WiFly service, subscriber may call the Airborne Access hotline: 633-WiFi (633-9434) or send SMS to 2968. SMS format: ASK (space)AIRBORNE(space)MESSAGE

    · Disconnection of Smart Bro service, whether voluntary or not, will entail the deactivation of WiFly.

    · Pro-rata and Rebates will not be applicable for WiFly.

i tried searching for a thread about the "amazing smart broadband" but i didn't see any. i've been a user since september 2005 and i have had a lot of bad (as in really bad) experiences. i can't count the number of times i've cussed at a csr or the number of months i didn't have a stable connection. however, i'm still stuck with this thing. please post your feedbacks regarding this internet service provider. how fast is your fastest speed? how slow? what do you use it for? thanks guys.

I have both SmartBro and PLDT DSL. And both have 2mbps connection. I've never had a problem with SmartBro.

no problem with my smart bro, i think ive been a subscriber for 2years. My only gripe is that they are still not offering bandwidth upgrades, when all other isp's have already increased their bw,

my Smartbro connection here at Tarlac is quite stable. the only setback is that i can not send emails using SMTP Port 25. so pag home office ako, i use our web-based email losing the formatting option.

SmartBro is crap... sa online games yung mga kalaro ko online na naka smartbro mga laggers... tapos madalas sabi nila nadidiskonek daw internet connection nila... PLDT myDSL the best pa din para sakin... wala pa ako naging problem.

We have our SmartBro wireless for over a year now and I must admit that it is very reliable. Never was an occasion when I do not have internet connection for long periods of time. Its only drawback its speed as we're only getting about 150kbps vs. their advertised speed of 384kpbs. (boybi and squatt3r,- how did you get that amazing speed)...

So, we checked out PLDT MyDSL,- sadly it was worse here in our area.

Then, Globe Broadband, where I am currently getting better than 1000kbps. We are now on their 15-day trial period.

So, it looks like we are going to Smart to request for a disconnection of our trustworthy and reliable SmartBro Wireless in a few days....
