Kung battery mo ay lithium ion and chances are it is - no need to drain before charging.

    Your welcome.

no need all lithium ion batteries will stop charging once it reaches 100% capacity. I sometimes leave my almost 1 year old battery pluged in for days at a time and no problems. 0% battery wear reported by mobilemeter.
Some people recommend fully discharging the battery once in a while just to keep the windows battery meter accurate. Personally, I don't do it.
For lithium ions, it is actually more harmfull to completly drain the battery before recharging. However, if you have ni-cad, it is better to drain it before charging.

I don't know. If I open my notebook and the battery power is below 50%, I charge it. Pag 50% or more, I drain it then re-charge.

Actually, the store don't carry Dell or Dell product. They only carry HP/Compaq and Sony, But you have to go NEX/AAFES website and customize your order whatever you want and its assembled in Nevada. Its typically around $250 cheaper than electronic stores plus no tax (one of the perks and no shipping). I also ordered one for my brother in the philippines and he just got recieved it on Friday, but it was assembled in Malaysia. And yes, the shipping was free and so was the tax.

I suspect that his battery and OS were not calibrated. By draining the bat, it recalibrated it with the OS. He did not gain an additional hour. More like he recovered the hour.

anyone here who uses ASUS laptops? are they of good quality? sabi kasi nila asus are known for their good motherboards. im planning to buy a laptop now, and im considering between compaq presario v3000 series, acer 5583wxmi and the asus A3F ... all of these are centrino duo, 512 duo, 1.66 GH intel graphics. my budget is about 60th or higher not more than 70th. My use of the laptop is mostly for school purposes such as reports, powerpoint, word, research, surfing, and a few multimedia. but definitely not for gaming.

by the way, my target as of now is the asus A3F. here's the specs.

intel core duo processor T2300 1.66 GH
    512 MB memory
    60 GB HDD
DVD Super multi double layer drive
    15" xga
    intel 945 GM
    Windows xp home edition
    Intel PRO wireless 3945 a/b/g
    10/100 ethernet
    4 in 1 card reader
    1.3 mpixel web cam

ANY FEEDBACKS? nice to hear from your opinion guys ...

mine is asus a6b00r, purchased a year ago. specs:
intel celeron, d pa yata labas ang mga dual core noon
    ati graphics 128 mb
15.4" WXGA TFT LCD, for watching dvd
    wifi
upgraded memory of 256 to 768 kaya lang yung 128 mapupunta sa graphics kaya 640 mb na lang matitira
    40 g HD
purpose: presentations, konting games, for dvd watching
performance: satisfied after the memory upgrade, matibay nga siya

claim sa warranty: dvd combo and battery pack
tagal lang ng claim, abot ng more or less 2 mos
sakit ng asus: battery namamatay kahit fully charged, dvd combo sira ang playback. may 2 pa ako kasama na ganon din ang sira ala pang one year.

avoid the integrated video cards (intel). dami ko tuloy di malaro ngayon sa laptop, even if the ram and processor is up to it.
