kimps...check ko yung pinoydvd...member ako ng hometheaterforum.com pero antagal ko nang hindi nagpo-post and to be honest, the amount of info there is just overwhelming...

my choices for where to buy are either mail order (HTF members like me get some sweet discounts from some e-tailers), Costco, Best Buy, Brandsmart or Circuit City. may Sound Advice din dito but they are honestly too overpriced.

Kung for gaming sir, LCDs and DLPs are good. No burn in problems. However some say LCDs arent good when watching sports because they initially blur with fast moving objects.
With plasmas there is always a risk of burn-in but the newer models are addressing this issue now.
Kung DLPs, make sure no one sees the rainbow effect in your family or else the tv will be useless for them.
Yung front projectors are also good for everything except for one thing....the lights should always be turned off in your room to maximize your viewing pleasure.

thanks for the inputs everybody

not too interested in the DLP's, mainly because they still have a cabinet and space is precious. but i'll look into some of the brands and the stores/sites that you guys have recommended.

usage is probably going to be 40% digital cable/hdtv, 40% gaming, and 20% DVD. i even have ambitions of hooking up a PC to the set, but first things first.

    hey guys!

How much is 30 inch LCD/Plasma TV's sa atin? I'm trying to compare prices here in china. Some of the local brands like Haier, Chanhong are priced to the branded ones like Sony(makes me wonder too, baka locally made).

    thanks

there's an AOC 42" plasma being sold at compex stores at PhP 109K. images are very crisp on their display units, its pretty much running from store opening to store closing and its apparently holding up.

very tempting but i'm not sure if its a good idea. baka kasi sasandali lang sayang naman, parang nagtapon lang ng pera. i'm still more inclined to buy an RPTV for the money

For LCD, go for the SONY Bravia. I think yan na ang the best when it comes to LCD. Dami nito sa Middle East. Kung Projectors naman, check the Infocus line of projectors. Most of them are designed for DVD movies. Sa RPTV naman, check the Sony 3LCD Wega.

unfortunately, hindi option sa akin ang projector (i assume you guys mean the theater-style front projection units), for a couple of reasons. first, i think that the image size will be overwhelming for a small room. second, the walls are kind of weird - they are kind of cut off at the corners and there are a couple of windows, so there isn't a good large flat space to mount a screen. lastly, my house is very sunny so i can't see how i can make the room completely dark during the daytime (to get a good picture).

on another note, it's kinda weird that LCD's over 40" are much more expensive than plasma, pero champion sila sa presyo in the 37"-and-under range...

may costco ba dyan? kung meron, ganda return policy nila. kungdi, extended warranty na lang.
try mo nga ang share it here balak ko kasi ganyan nalang din gawing set up sa room ko.

agreed. burn-in in 10-years with 8-hours a day viewing. By the 5th year, baka palitan na ulit ang newer plasma. kahit every tax-return pwedeng bumili ng plasma si silver986

according to the 'experts' at HTF, the new generation plasmas have an expected life of 60,000 hours. that's pretty acceptable by my standards. my only remaining concern is the so-called "burn-in".

OC ako sa mga ganitong bagay and it would drive me crazy to see outlines of burned-in images like letterbox lines or TV station logos...

AFAIK, burn-in occurs after the life expectancy. Which in your case, 60,000 hours, is pretty acceptable.

60,000 hrs na? amp, e mga 20 yrs of usage yun ah. by that time, hindi na uso plasma.
