sa akin naman yung game room. in charge ako sa decorating dun, so linagyan ko ng mga nakakatuwang (nakakaasar sa kanya) paintings kagaya ng "dogs playing poker".Originally Posted by Jun aka Pekto

anyway, buy the 50" plasma for yourself, but make it look like it's a valentines gift for her.![]()
One question po about LCD TVs.....
I bought a 32" Sony BRAVIA (V Series). Napansin ko lang na, umiinit yung screen ng set. I noticed this while I'm cleaning the set, and about 6" away from the screen (mainit yung rays niya which is not the same with the conventional CRT TVs).
Normal lang ba ito sa LCD? First time ko lang kasing magkaroon nito. Any feedback is highly appreciated.
i have a panasonic plasma. what i did was to operate the tv for 2 months with the brightness turned to the lowest screen brightness. i forgot the exact number of hours needed to operate at low brightness to minimise burn in, but my usage equated to about 2 months. the av / plasma forums should have this info...
I have a 32" Magnavox LCD tv (Philips screen). It's a bit warm....about as warm as either one of my 17" Samsung monitors here. But, feeling the warmth 6 ft away? Nope. I have to actually touch the tv at the back to feel the heat. The A/C at minimum settings keeps the house temp around upper 70's. So, maybe that's why the tv's not as hot.
40" Sony Bravia V here ... no noticeable heat from the screen, and I can barely feel heat going through the top vents.
The screen uses a Cold Cathode Flourescent (CCFL) backlight so it shouldn't be emitting that much heat - that is, for the current Bravia lineup (X2000/V2000 series). I'm not sure about the previous Bravia's though, like the S2000.
StraightSix, you provided a very good info on Bravia V-Series. Thanks and I'll keep that in mind when shopping for Bravia
You're welcome. I hope you get a good deal. I got mine with a free extended warranty on the screen, a free Sony DVD recorder, £100 cashback ($180?) and 2yrs zero-interest payment ... all because Sony launched the model just before the start of HDTV broadcasts in the UK.Originally Posted by Karding
But knowing that you're stateside nga pala, I'm sure you'll get a better deal ... we always get ripped-off compared to you guys.![]()
update on my 42" Philips...may burn in na nga from my Xbox 360 baseball game. i'm addicted to the damn thing so the static images are starting to show when the area is showing white or light colors. it doesn't look bad, but is annoying to someone who's OC like myself.
lesson learned - get a dedicated LCD for gaming.
but you guys get better cars and football (soccer)...quits langOriginally Posted by StraightSix

Not a real footie fan here. And still wishing for that better car ... though we do have that Belgian lager Stella Artois :cheers:Originally Posted by M54 Powered
Thanks for the info ... although late na para sa akin. So far ang complaint ko lang eh medyo mabagal mag-switch between AV sources. Do you have a link for the firmware upgrades? 'Ala kasi akong makita sa US/UK site nila ... so siguro OK pa (sana) ito, hehe.Originally Posted by babesb18
Guys..
Ingat sa pagbili ng Bravia units...specially if it's from the US market.. work for Sony and we have a software upgrade being done by service center techs on most model number with specific serial numbers.
Since we are now going to release a 1080p format (Blu-ray) and Dolby TrueHD, i do not recommend that you buy a TV that can only handle 1080i. All Sony Pictures films/movies are now going to be released in Blu-Ray format (HD-DVD is its competitor technology which will be released before the end of the year). So wait for the release of a TV with a native resolution of 1080p.
Be careful with the pseudo 1080p...some manufacturers are claiming that they have a 1080p display...and it's really just the LCD that is 1080p but the processing being done is only up to 1080i.
So for now...i'll stick with the front LCD projector setup in my Home Theater...it gives me the maximum viewing of up to 70inches with no burn-in issues!!!
salamat! maliwanag na ang lahat.. pambili na lang ang malabo!Originally Posted by babesb18

StraightSix--You can give me the model number and the serial number so i can check if it needs an upgrade...
Nga pla guys...the Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD audio formats will only pass through an HDMI 3.0 connection...so make sure that you get an A/V receiver that has an HDMI 3.0 input/output for a 7.1 surround (discreet).
