take note lang na cash or American Express lang ang ina-accept ng Costco para walang gulatan sa register.

native resolution is 1024x768. i've been told that that is the maximum for 42"...if i wanted to go up i'd have to get a 50", which is what i really wanted but it's just too big for my theater room.

niwde - pwedeng pwede sana pero RIP yung computer ko with my "collection"

    para sa mga HDTV experts:

tulong naman...what's a good brand/model for a 26-inch LCD tv? i like the images from philips & samsung. the sony bravia 26-inch doesnt have the wega engine, the sharp aquos is quite expensive for my budget & reviews say the images arent that impressive. so im left choosing between philips & samsung. both are HD-TV ready, HDMI, 1366 x 768 resolutions. though their image processing technologies are different, from the brochures they seem to function similarly. feedback naman dyan...thanks.

We don't have a 26" LCD TV. But, we do have a 32" Magnavox (Philips) LCD TV. It's HDTV-ready but doesn't include an HDTV receiver. It does have a regular NTSC tuner and various composite, S-Video, VGA, and DVI-HDCP connectors. Maximum resolution is 1366 x 768. PC resolution is 1280 x 768.

We haven't used the NTSC tuner. We're using a regular non-HD DirectTV receiver (with regular cables) and picture quality varies from so-so to great depending on the channel. I've heard though that better, more expensive cables can make a big improvement. DVD picture quality is outstanding and I imagine, so will HD.

Our Magnavox is probably average compared to other brands which more reflects the overall improving qualities of LCD tv's.

For 26" LCD tv's, I heard that Samsung makes the best ones. Can't remember where I read that though.

    Specs Of Our Magnavox

Thanks for the tip. I'm strongly inclined in buying a Samsung, their technology seems to be more 'advanced' than Philips's. Samsung has been in the business of making LCDs longer than Philips (correct me if Im wrong), so I guess they've got the edge. But I'll still go around the shops, asking what's the best buy.

Ok. I remember reading reviews of both 26" and 32" LCD tv's at Tom's Hardware Guide. Samsung topped both categories.

I had that in mind when we shopped for our LCD tv. We ended up with the Magnavox after my wife took a very close subjective look at both Samsung and Philips LCD tv's. To her, the Magnavox looked best for the price.

We're planning to buy a slightly bigger LCD (or plasma) tv to replace our 10-year old 27" RCA tv in the living room. It's going to be tougher because it has to fit in our entertainment center which as you could see isn't very spacious for tv's. A 42" plasma is out of the question. Our Magnavox fit with maybe an inch left on each side. But, the Magnavox have speakers on the sides which took up at least 7". If 35" or 36" LCD or plasma tv's exist, we may have to go that route.

Di puwede. Sa asawa ko yung bahay, pero ako ang nagbabayad. Yung den lang ang sa akin. The rest, sa kanya.....

But like M54, we're also members of Costco (with AM cards too) Magtitingin-tingin muna kami. Costco.com shows at least 3 brands of 37" LCD tv's. Once we buy a replacement, the old RCA will go to the family room where the Magnavox is now and the Magnavox will go into my den and will become my primary pc monitor.

Eyeballing (and tinkering with) them is the right thing to do. Online reviews will only go so far......

oo nga e...i plan to test the tvs using all possible inputs (SD, HD, DVD, game console) to see how they perform. its a good thing that from the online reviews, there arent too many horror stories about the philips & samsung 26-inchers....so i guess buying either one will be a good choice. thanks!
