CPE is dedicated to the subs but the AP is not. AP can support multiple CPE so accessibilty will not be a problem here. Isipin mo na lang na ang AP is a Cellsite that can accomodate simultaneous calls in a given time.Originally Posted by mantoy

abot ba yan sa fairview? mukhang mura nga. sir silver_corolla, taga meridian ka po ba? parang gusto ko. :D
Ang alam ko buong Metro Manila pa lang. So Fairview should be okay. Ganito na lang..... basta may signal ng Smart sa area nyo malamang sa malamang pwede kang magpakabit ng Wi-Fi Wireless Broadband....provided na may RCO na AP dyan sa Cellsite na nagse-serve sayo.Originally Posted by A121

pwede ba yan sa networking(800/moth)? 4 or more pc , sabay sabay ang connction? or for 1 pc lang.
They're marketing P799+ for 289kbps although you could avail of much larger BW at a higher price. What's nice about it is that there's burstable speed w/c is great for non- real-time apps like surfing. Most meridian AP's are located on SMART cell sites so if you have one near your house or at least 2-4km from where you plan to put it, and you have LOS, then more or less you're fine. Installation is around 500 bucks, equipment's free.![]()
That's right mantoy, it's shared Bandwidth. But most apps that we use don't necessarily send/receive simultaneously with the other users, although they limit the amount of subs per site so the guaranteed BW/sub is maintained. So there's no need 4 worry. You could go mobile in your house if you could interface with a wireless hub, although bluetooth will serve as your bottleneck and may adversely slow down your guaranteed and burstable speed. Anyway that's why its marketed as Fixed-Wireless![]()
Most posts I have read on this thread mainly speak of "theoretical performance" of Meridian wireless broadband service. Iba pa rin yung "actual performance" review from several actual Meridian users.
I note that many postings from actual Meridian users from other bulletin boards say that weather is indeed a factor. Not to mention the hassle of antenna installation on your property.
PLDT MyDSL has now become competitive. At P1,995 per month, you get 512 kbps DSL connection. Libre na ang installation fee, meron pang libreng Lexmark printer!
Kung pa-surf-surf ka lang naman ng mga websites, i think cheaper pa rin ang dial-up (yun nga lang busy ang line mo). But like me downloading songs and movies often, 512 kbps is awesome.
as long as hindi ma-disrupt yung connection thru wifi ok na yan..pero di kaya prone to hacking yung network nila?
Agree on the dial up solutionOriginally Posted by EL Chicane

I've been using it for almost two months now, 240kbps burstable to 256kbps. So far so good. IMHO, its value for money at 988/mo.
Meridian's hardware is installed within the premises of selected Smart cell sites, tower, transmission and power supply lang ang ginamit nila.

WBR,
yeah talk about competitive. Im using it right now (512kbps connection) and i can't entirely say that im very satisfied. it keeps on disconnecting. how do i know? all pages keeps on reloading and my YM keeps on logging on-off every 30 seconds! it's crazy! And btw, the free printer isn't entirely true. you have to buy the ink to get the printer so nde den sha free. hahahaPLDT MyDSL has now become competitive.
