MAC FTW!
Because in my experience... You'll be more productive with MAC. Downside: No games though but I don't freakin care.

Meh. We have Macs at home. My kid's school district uses Macs. I like them. But, I don't feel any more productive than if I'm using a pc with Windows. Productivity is in the person, not the computer. They're different. But, that's about it.
Anyway to the thread starter.... For peace of mind, get a C2D Windows laptop with discrete graphics as powerful as you can afford and as much ram as you can afford. You can even buy a MacBook or MacBook Pro if you don't mind maintaining 2 different software libraries (like we do).Last edited by Jun aka Pekto; May 4th, 2008 at 10:24 PM.

The Celeron Dual-Core just came out recently. Not sure if there's one yet for laptops. But, it's another option to consider for the budget-conscious.

what about those xeon processors? I always see them on latest everest cpu queen benchmarking.
