ok guys...new question. i need a new central remote. preferably something touch-screen, and something that can control a TV, cable receiver, xbox 360, dvd player and AV receiver.

any inputs? i heard Pioneer makes a good model but they are very expensive ($200)

Gusto ko sana bumili ng 40" LCD TV. Does anyone know where or how I can get one na mura either here or abroad? Bumaba na daw kasi dito ang 32". That's good news kaso matagal ng mura sa e-bay ang LCD TV's eh. I can legally import with lowered duties but I need a supplier first. Can anyone help with a supplier/brand and advice kung sulit mag-import nito?

HP, i had a Logitech Harmony before...the screen went out and the buttons never would program exactly the way i wanted them to. thumbs down ang review ko sa kanila...but that 1000 series looks very interesting (but 500 USD??!)

Fellow tsikoteers, I visited the Ganzklar store at SM Megamall and they have a promo; buy 1 32 inch Ganzklar LCD TV (1360x768) and get a "free" 26 inch Ganzklar LCD TV. Price is 60k.

Tanong ko lang good buy na ba iyon? Ang specs ng TV nasa www.ganzklar.com.ph. Newbie ako sa mga features ng HDTV eh..

1.) What's the difference between 1080p Ready and 1080p compatible? May nakita kasi ako sa AVID 32" 1080p Ready. Ang pagkakaalam ko kasi para maging true HD (true HD = 1080p) eh kailangan nasa 40" pataas ang TV mo.

2.) Ang LCD TV ba na 32" pataas ay HDTV na din?

3.) Paano sinusukat ang LCD TV when it comes to their picture quality? Sa resolution ba sya (e.g. 1360x768) or sa kung ilan ang kanyang kayang ioutput na in progressive (e.g. 480p, 720p, 1080p)?

4.) Ang salamin ba ng LCD TV pag hinawakan o sinundot ng bata eh babaon ba ito parang laptop (babaon or malambot) or matigas ito parang salamin katulad ng sa mga CRT?

5.) Meron ba kayong table para malaman kung ilan ang katumbas ng 1360x768, 1024x768 etc... etc.. pag kinonvert sa 480p, 480i, 720p etc.. etc..

I registered w/ pinoydvd to get some quick info unfortunately wasn't able to get much help except "this was discussed several times already", "google", etc. wala man lang quick answr like beginner - get this, mid range - get that, high end - go for these brands...

Maraming HDTV na di 1920x1080 native resolution. So playing a 1080p source (blu-ray or HD DVD) will result in a black screen. Pareho lang yung -ready at -compatible na puwede silang mag-play ang 1080P source. However a downscaled resolution ang kapalit nito, depend on the resolution of your TV

2.) Ang LCD TV ba na 32" pataas ay HDTV na din?

Any TV with a higher native resolution of 480 is already considered HD

Maraming factors tinitignan sa PQ ng any TV. Yung black depth, contrast ratio...etc. Yung ibang TV maganda yung picture (WOW factor), pero nakakairita sa katagalan. Best pa rin ang pag-demo sa tindahan, pero dalhin mo yung sariling demo source

Unfortunately pareho sila ng sa laptop

I think equivalent ang 720 sa 768 resolution. Interlace(i) and progressive(p) are the way the picture signal is presented. Progressive is superior daw because the picture is presented in full

I would rather stick to well known brands such as sony, panasonic,hitachi or toshiba. Madali kasing masira yung mga kakaibang pangalan. Usually the cheaper ones dont last that long.

Yung difference between 1080p ready at 1080p compatible is yung tuner. Sa 1080p ready, wala siyang built-in tuner kaya kailangan mo pang bumili ng set- top-box to decode the HD signals kung meron mang nagooffer ng HD services sa mga cable companies natin. Yung 1080p compatible naman, it has a built in tuner so it can just pick up over the air (OTA) HD broadcasting. Hindi ko rin sure if we have OTA HD signals diyan sa atin. Kung meron man it will still be in 720p-1080i format or lower.
Ang ginagawa ng karamihan, bumibili na lang ng 1080p HD DVD players para masulit yung 1080p HDTV nila.

Wala sa size ng Tv ang pagiging HD nila. Tingnan mo lang kung 720p-1080i (which is HD territory already)or 1080p(true HD) compliant.

Iwasan mo rin yung mga "ED" sets, Enhanced definition sets. This will display HD programming but it will downconverted it to a non HD display format.

Meron ding SD set (Standard definition set.) Same thing here. Down converted pa rin kahit may set-top-box ka pa.

Answer is above. But if your not planning to buy a DVD player, HD man o hindi, and just use ordinary cable broadcasts without a set-top-box, the rule of thumb is the bigger your tv is, the more distorted the picture becomes. Pero kung mga 20" TV lang bibilhin mo for sure malinaw ang picture kahit hindi HD broadcasts.

Depende kung anong brand at anong klasse ng TV. Kung titingnan mo visually yung picture ng ibat ibang tv at the same resolution, some are brighter than others , some have better contrast ratios than the other in which both have advantages and disadvantages. Other kinds of Tvs are plasma, flatpanel LCDs,
Rear projection LCD/DLP Tvs,and LCOS. All of which offer different picture qualities.

4.) Ang salamin ba ng LCD TV pag hinawakan o sinundot ng bata eh babaon ba ito parang laptop (babaon or malambot) or matigas ito parang salamin katulad ng sa mga CRT?

Sensitive siya unfortunately. lalo na sa magnets. kaya make sure magnetically shielded yung speakers mo kung itatabi mo siya sa tv.

5.) Meron ba kayong table para malaman kung ilan ang katumbas ng 1360x768, 1024x768 etc... etc.. pag kinonvert sa 480p, 480i, 720p etc.. etc..

Nope. I think these are the number of pixels that a tv can display(1360x768)at one time. Tapos yung mga 480p, 720p is a format on how the picture is displayed, whether progressive or interlaced.
Yung pixel count is higher the better, same goes for format.

Sumsung is a good brand and not so expensive with great features. Almost all HDTV- LCD use HDMI but you can have a cable from DVI to HDMI if your using a Computer as a source. Look around like Abenson , Ansons Makati, automatic center, Home theather specialty shops is Park Square 2 or at Trinoma. Almost same lang naman mga prices. Well, you need to backread a lot sa pinoydvd. There are a ton of information there. Just backread and backread since IMO there is no "quick answer" in the world of audio/video.

is there cheaper option sa monster cable for video component (yung tatlohan)?

nung dati kasi sa audio ng oto ang ginamit nila yung same cable used sa networking (yung 8 lines na parang telephone cable)...and the results are as similar to highend and bulky coax. Wala ring hisses or sound quality loses...so i wonder is this possible for the video component cable?
