shielded cables lang naman ang monster cables diba?!?

have anybody tried regular coaxial cables (like the RG series used for radio antenna) instead?

Di hamak na mas mura kasi ang mga ito and electornic interference is known to be prevented by these RG cables.

I bought before "generic" cables instead of those uber-expensive Monster Cables... the pic reception was superb even for an RPTV... gonna test it on our LCD this weekend.

42" office displays. Panasonic makes an excellent unit. the great thing about them is that they sell dedicated plasma or LCD displays that don't have many consumer features, and choose to invest most of the cost of the tv in stunning displays, and also pass the savings on to the customer.

as far as component cables, Acoustic Research is an excellent, lower-cost alternative to overpriced Monster Cable.

ang sabi nung kaibigan (and the HT technicians) ko mas maganda pa rin daw video kung monster cable brand ang gamitin mo dito sa Y Pb Pr component video connection ang gagamitin instead of the generic ones.

any body can confirm this claim?

Sa akin lang mga bros, if your more into details sa sound and video, there is really no substitute for high quality cables. pricey man, its still worth it. As most technicians would say you get what you pay for.
But if you just want to get by, ofcourse any cable will do.

^i saw some scientific tests on home theater forum that shows how Monster has no measurable difference in performance vs less known brands. i can't find the thread anymore, but i remember reading it.

i agree in most terms that you get what you pay for, but you do have to make sure the premium prices you pay give you a return in better performance as well.

^ yup kasi electronic signal is electronic signal...and AFAIK this electronic signal will drop or will be affected if you are running the cable at long distances wherein the wire becomes a "big" resistor and weakens the signal and/or the wire is subjected or pass-by another electronic field (magnet or something of similar nature).

sana dun sa merun "high-end" component cable, mag-testing naman kayo ang shed us some personal evaluation....i'm really very curious dito sa phenomenon na ito.

baka kasi another marketing ploy eh...

Oh Im sure many will refute that idea about monster cables and any other brands. Honestly I feel most electronics in the stores today are too overrated. Im just speaking in general terms ofcourse. If im going to ask you, what would you prefer, the cables that came with your TV set or those thick shiny ones with precision-machined 24 karat gold plated connectors (ummmm gold plated)(just kidding). Well you've got to admit those cables that come with the tv or dvd players are pretty crappy.Just imagine having a plasma tv, hi end speakears, 7.1 audio receiver then having those cheap crappy cables installed.Im sure the audio and visual picture would still suck. So why not spend a little more for higher quality cables is all im saying. Just take note that cables are just part of the equation, there are still so many things to consider in building your HTS, which is why it will be 1 of your most expensive hobbies youll ever have.
And by the way,I dont use monster cables, I use energy reference series cables for my equipment, not by preference but because the storemanager gave it to me for free.

    voltes v,
indeed component cables are of more quality images compare to composite and even the S-video, but to me a "generic" component versus the branded component is just minimal in comparison...

parang bose yan... so expensive but it can be rivaled even with entry level speakers

    Maybe this link will help

For some who compared an expensive cables over cheap ones say that there is a difference. But I say its only psychological. Syempre you know that you shell out a lot of money for that and you expect it to perform well over the cheap ones.

Packaging also affect the buyer. If you're in an HT shop and saw 2 brands side by side. Chances are that you'll pick up the better packaging and built of the cable. As for me I read HT forums before I get HT gear and look for the best reviews at affordable price.

No argument here.Although most of the time these cables, component or composite video, will depend on the connections on the back of your tv or dvd players as there are quite a few of the new and high end electronics(TV and DVD players) carry component video connections.

Like I said most electronics are too overrated. The first HTIB that I bought was a Bose, after a few hours of listening and watching, I returned it the next day.

I agree. Monster cables are over-rated. My brother bought one when he bought a DVD player, kasi hanep daw yung salesman ng Monster Cable. Anyway, he tried it, and borrowed my generic cable (the one supplied for free when I likewise bought my DVD Home Theater) for comparison, and wala naman kaming nakitang noticeable difference.

Although MC's look good, bale wale din daw kasi nakatago naman sa likod. Hindi pwedeng ipagmayabang, kasi hindi naman nakikita, hehehe

I can't see the difference between HDMI and component. Or maybe it's my eyes... or my TV. Kagandahan lang ng HDMI is kasama na ang audio, but if you need to route your audio to your receiver, you need a separate optical cable anyway.

I also mistakenly bought Monster Cable once. I tested it vs. the cheaper Acoustic Research, wala namang diperensya, or baka kailangan high end din yung components at driver.

question: are we talking about comparisons between same-format cables here? or the difference between composite --> s-video --> component --> hdmi?

because the crappy cables that come with your TV are most often composite, and of course they will look much worse than component or HDMI regardless of the manufacturer.

my point was more on the fact that component vs. component, you will be hard-pressed to see a difference between a $30 Acoustic Research and a $100 Monster Audio.

but i would definitely rock some "name brand" cables if they were given to me for free!! as Bob Barker would say, "The Price is Right!!"
