We don't have maids, not because we can't afford them, it's just that we're not that lazy. I don't like having servants around. We do have more than a dozen employees sa business namin. They get food, lodging, SS, Philhealth, and holiday pay. Their pay ranges from min wage to as high as P14k per month, depende sa position and level of trust. Keep in mind na highschool graduate lang mga ito.

A lot of people keep saying I'm paying too much. I could easily save almost P600,000 a year and buy a new car every year by just hiring probinsyano ang pay them "stay in" rate... you know, like most of you are doing by paying P3k a month and start deducting menial things like water and electricity. I'm just not inhuman like that. When I see my employees with their wife and kids wearing nice clothes, eating normal food, able to afford medical care and education, I feel like I'm doing something right. I can honestly say that without me, these people will be living in the squatter area. I know 2 of them have already started to put money in their infant's college fund. 1 of them started putting in money on a house (through pag-ibig).

So to you guys who kept complaining that I don't do anything, I think I'm doing more than most of you. How would you like it if your employers start deducting water and electricity na ginamit ninyo sa trabaho? Grabe talaga kayo. Daming excuses. Why not just come right out and say it? You want to lowball your employee. Another P2k a month won't hurt your lifestyle a bit.

alam nyo, after rereading all the comments, parang naaawa na lang ako. jolog1 demonstrates some of the biggest reasons why the philippines is in bad condition:

1) ego. i am better than you all and you better recognize it.
2) negative comments/personal attacks. no matter how good your intentions are, people are not going to listen to you if you call them names or put them down. whatever happened to positive reinforcement?

it's sad that this individual feels that he's actually helping when he's actually perpetuating the behavior that drags the country down.

Bluebimmer asked me how much I paid my maid so I replied. You're all just huffing and puffing because the truth hurts. It's the same cycle from the start of thread. Like I said before, I always say what I want to say and I don't care how you guys react. I'm paying my employees the right wages and I'm setting an example for everyone to follow.

M54 - what is with the "we" thing? You live in the US. I've lived there for years too. People don't have maids over there unless you're ultra rich. We all learned to do our own laundry, fold our own clothes, do our own dishes, cook our own food, clean our own place, and all that. Do you see a need for a maid? Even kids as little as 6 years old were taught the basic of "chores" such as taking the garbage out. By the time they reach 10, they help their parents do the dishes and wash their cars. If the kano can do it, why not any of you? In fact, some foreigners in this country don't rely on them. What they do is hire a specialize maid that shows up once a week. 24 hour maid are common in third world countries and do you know why? It's because there's a lot of poor people to exploit. When I was living in the US, I managed to do some volunteer work to help the poor while I went to school. I didn't need a maid back then too.

Iluvdetailing - office workers can make more than maids but they all have to make at least the minimum wage. That's why they call it "minimum wage". SS and Philhealth are mandatory by law.

You might as well say that our President is lazy. She could very well drive her own car yet she employs a driver. Hell you could even call Jesus lazy since he had to have 12 disciples to assist him in preaching when he could have done it all by himself.
