Weird a, the CSR ALWAYS tell me NOT to turn-OFF the modem so THEY COULD DIAGNOSE my problem. And your CSR told you to turn your modem OFF??? I think they do the diagnostic by pinging the modem from their side.

Later on during that conversation, they asked me to turn-on the modem and they ping'ed my connection. They also did a remote load test, according to the CSR, to check if I have 'extra connection on my line'.... Both were okay.

Anyway, a PLDT engineer called me up yesterday afternoon to tell me that their gateway was down so it could be the cause of me not being able to get an ip address. However, I could not get the DSL light on the modem to turn-on steadily.

Anyway, was able to finally get a connection last night, speed=340kpbs and I was able to use the connection, without interruption for about 2 hours until I decided to call it a night... Strange.... if the connection is down, it is down, but if the connection is up,- I can use it without any interruption.... Hmmmm... my saga continues...

Mas grabe pa yang problem mo kesa dinanas ko dati. Yung sa akin every 5 min ang disconnection, pero nagrereconnect agad with a few seconds. Ok lang ito kung browsing and downloading stuffs lang, pero hindi pwede sa mga online games and chatting/voip.

Just continue your everyday followup with 173. And when a technician will come to check your connection, magbigay ka ng tip para ganahan syang bumalik sa inyo incase hindi maayos yung problem mo or bumalik yung problem. Get his cellphone number also, minsan the technician will work even weekend if he knows na maayos ka magbigay ng tip.

Right now, I was able to connect. Time now is 11:10PM... getting speed of 650kbps and download speed of 80KBps from pldtdsl.com..... Hindi ako naki-kick out as usual.... Hay naku,- ewan ko ba kung ano na itong problema ng aking setup... I still believe that they're oversubscribed and I get kicked out during hours of heavy traffic. Problem is I do not want to leave my modem on all the time.....I just want to access the internet on demand. An engineer/ technician is going to our place this coming Saturday so I hope that he will be able to resolve my setup's issue... The pain and anguish continue....

If this doesn't work,- I'll go with Globe.... I have an extra telephone line in our house so I could subscribe to their Plan995 at 1.5Mbps(?) yata... They have telephone cables here in our village.

Thanks boybi for the response and the tip... Ganyan nga ang ginagawa ko para madaling kumuha ng support.

Well, my saga continues, and it has took a turn from bad to worse to worst....

A PLDT Tech visited our place last Saturday and confirmed that their infrastructure, specifically the one connecting the telephone line to our place may be the culprit because of the number of spans of wiring used to connect our house to their box. Anyway, he came back yesterday, together with a PLDT engineer and they tested our line and confirmed that there is no DSL signal going into our house. They used their service modem, which is an older version and they got the DSL signal, but with only 150kbps speed.

We needed to go somewhere else, so what they told me is that they would 'optimize' our line by checking for each node outside to see where the signal attenuation is and that they will be advising me if they're able to accomplish their job. They also kept my modem Zyxel P600, telling me that it is 'not good' anymore. Anyway, I told them that I will not be accepting an old model modem, because most probably it will be on its 'end-of-life' stage.

When we got home last night,- our telephone is worse than before. Now, there is a buzzing sound when you call someone. It wasn't there before. I think it is still 'work-in-progress' for our PLDT guys, but it has come to a point where it is both frustrating and annoying.....

Another call to 172/173 and an email, requesting release from our 'contract' since they cannot deliver their basic service to us. Whew!

A few years ago, alam ko max of 5kms lang ang inaabot ng DSL. I don't know now kung ganyan pa rin especially with newer NGN lines of PLDT. Also, baka nga corroded na yung distribution panels ng PLDT papunta sa inyo sa sobrang luma na.

Right bro.,- they have this new NGN box half a kilometer away from our house (just outside our subdivision), but according to the PLDT men, they're not going to lay cables for this.

So, what's the use of this new tech device if you're using the old infrastructure? At least rehabilitate them, right? They're not. Whew!

But they can use the existing cables to tap into the NGN box.

I think they can, but according to the PLDT Tech, at least they need to rehab these cables in preparation for the new breakout boxes that are compatible with the NGN boxes. (I'll ask them again today)

Anyway, they are doing rewiring of our telephone line (outside of our house). Apparently they identified an open (or swap?) line in one of the breakout boxes where they can tap our line to minimize the length of our cable. We'll see if this works today.

PLDT was able to rewire our connection to a breakout box that is near our place and they also gave a previous-gen modem which worked for me for a couple of days, giving me speed in excess of 600kbps, until in conked out. Well, they came in this afternoon and replaced the modem and I am on it right now.... Speed is wanting but it works for my requirements....

We'll see how this will perform in the next few days....

The modem that they originally issued to me?- It cannot lock in to a DSL line.....

pasensya na hindi ako makarelate sa failures ng PLDTDSL sa most areas.... my connection (so far) is still doing well... 1.5Mbps download rate sa speed test nila.

Minsan may araw na mabagal, but that is probably 1% of the time lang.

Nasa AC nga pala ako and not in Manila.

Bro.,- they're about to convert the line about 1km away from our house to their NGN infrastructure. However, the slow speed of approx 100kbps, I experienced during the first few weeks of my subscription compelled me to request the disconnection of our MyDSL. Masama talaga ang linya namin papasok sa village.

    Sad fate.

I was banking on their 999kbps, even just 60% of that, so that wifey and myself can split the bandwidth and work decently from home....

I guess we have to live with our SmartBro for some time....

Hi boybi, I documented everything through a series of faxes and emails and showed them that their system is not performing in our case. It's a good thing that the CSR is very supportive of our plight as their product really has not performed since end of day1. No DSL line most of the time, and if ever there was, the speed was really wanting.

Their support tech staff on the other hand, were highly commendable as they did everything to support me. However, their infrastructure is really that bad here in our area. First few days of non-delivery of their advertised product should be a good ground for anyone's case, IMO.
