Electronic cigarettes, also called “e-cigarettes,” are battery-operated devices that generally contain cartridges filled with nicotine, flavor and other chemicals. The electronic cigarette turns nicotine, which is highly addictive, and other chemicals into a vapor that is inhaled by the user.
    http://www.fda.gov/NewsEvents/Newsro.../ucm173222.htm

Here is what one model, a T-rex, looks like:

E-cigarettes, which are being termed “Personal Vaporizers” or PVs, by some users to remove the public’s impression that it’s just another form of cigarette, have been banned in some countries and is still not approved by the US FDA and WHO as a smoking cessation device despite praises from some in the smoking community. It is still not as widely recognized in our country.

John Britton, a lung specialist at the University of Nottingham, UK and chair of the Royal College of Physicians Tobacco Advisory Group said “if the levels are as low as in nicotine replacement therapy, I don’t think there will be much of a problem.”

The study conducted detailed quantitative analysis and concluded that carcinogens and toxicants are present only below harmful levels.

The final conclusion of the safety report is: "Based on the manufacturer’s information, the composition of the cartridge liquid is not hazardous to health, if used as intended."
The PV itself is composed of three basic components:

    • Battery, which powers the device
    • Atomizer, which heats up the liquid
    • Cartridge, which contains the liquid.

The liquid (some call it an e-liquid or e-juice) contains the following components:

    • Vegetable Glycol
    • Nicotine
    • Food flavoring

It used to contain Propylene Glycol but due to the FDA’s claim that it is being used for anti-freeze, newer e-liquids now contain Vegetable Glycol (VG). Proponents of PVs have tried to explain to the public that anti-freeze actually contains Diethylene Glycol which is very toxic, and that PG was actually added to anti-freeze to make it safer, e-liquid makers now prefer to use VG instead of PG 1) to remove the misconception and 2) to lessen allergic reactions to PG, since one of the main disadvantages of PG was an allergic reaction.

Cigarette smokers from different forums swear by its efficacy. They generally advise to stop conventional cigarettes (some are now calling them analogues) for a week and use PVs exclusively. When you try puffing another death stick, they claim they actually develop an aversion to the conventional cigarette’s taste and their lungs rebel against the smoke.

    What’s your take on this?

Thinking of buying a set for my dad. There's a model that looks exactly like a cigarette.

Tastes better... though you shouldn't overdo it... used one for a day and after a while, it gave me an upset stomach... just like regular cigarettes do...

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

1-2k yan, complete set. It looks like a real cigarette. Parang reds.

Set comes with the filters ( yung orange-brownish tip pag sa reds ) then chargers etc. etc.

Yung 800, stick lang ata yan if I`m not mistaken.

Tastes different than the normal cigarette.

BTW, may iba't ibang flavor yung filter niya ha, although it looks the same, you can choose from : lights, reds and menthol.

And yes, available yan sa lighters galore. Yung tip niya, kung nasan yung nicotine sa real cigarette, nagllight yun sa e-cigarette every time you take a puff.

Advantage, you don't get to inhale nicotine. Much safer.

Disadvantage, mahal, sa 2k ilang packs na yun ng real cigarette but always think na mas safe ito. Don't puff it too much, nadidischarge ito and the filter has a maximum puffs allowable before you should change it. 250 puffs, kung naalala ko pa. And yes, iba talaga ang lasa ng totoong cigarette sa ganito. ;)

Is it worth it ? Yes. It is. Lalo na sa gusto na talaga tumigil.

*boybi : wala siyang amoy. smoke lang.

I've quit smoking 5 years ago.

I kinda missed the relaxation smoking gave me during stressful times and the mild euphoria when smoking after going on duty for 36 hours while lying in bed. And who could forget the buzz when drinking with your buddies while smoking a cigarette at the same time?

When I saw the forums about e-cigarette I decided to try it out, although I ordered the e-liquids with low nicotine and mild flavors. It really did give me the nicotine high I sorely missed, without the 4000 other chemicals and carcinogens!

    Going back to your question:
    1) Second hand smoke is no longer a problem since what a vaper exhales is just water vapor with traces of flavor and nicotine. No other chemicals (as far as currently known) is present on the vapor.

    2) Meron pa ring amoy when a vaper exhales--- amoy cherry, banana, leche flan... well, you get the picture. No more of that yucky burned cigarette smell (except, of course, if the vaper were vaping a cigarette-flavored e-liquid).

I ordered mine through a forumer. I was looking for the cheapest 510 around. If you're within his delivery area, he delivers it to you for free. I am sending you his site address via PM right after I finish this post.

There's also one seller at tutuban but from reviews, ordering to him via text/calls takes time.

I would advise against buying those e-cigs they sell at the malls. Most vapers attest that it would more often than not kill your vaping experience.
