Dual channel wont work with 4+8

My laptop is also 4+8 and its fine. The advantage of an extra 4gb of ram is superior to dual channel.

You wont feel the advantage of dual channel ram doing office tasks.

But 4+4 is cheaper obviously

when would i feel the advantage for dual channel? I wanna do light gaming on the laptop (i.e. nba 2k21). it played nba2k17 decently on medium settings but sluggish for 2k21, especially after i reset it

EDIT: Just read that Kabylake i5 will support flex mode, and will run the 8gb in dual mode, and the remaining 4gb in single channel
