His 6 year old laptop fried its cpu and its too difficult to replace.

I wonder if we can use it as a shell and put in a generic laptop motherboard inside. Though cooling will be an issue.

I brought it to multiple shops in Greenhills. They told me to find a new cpu (its an old 5th gen i7). Shrug.

Any experts here that can give advice? Its an alienware. Kinda chunky 15 inch. Dunno the model.

is the cpu soldered or is it socketed? some chunky laptops have socketed cpus. lots of used cpus on ebay.

i dont think you can fry the cpu though, it has thermal protection. the vrm section probably died.

have you tried booting without the ram sticks or one stick at a time?
