Kaya minsan mas ok yun mga cities na may diversity. Pag all-white town or state nakow! Minsan masnakakatakot pa kesa mga gangsta nieghborhoods hehehe.
but then again, the US is a huge country. There are places that people think man did not land on the moon!!! They think its a big hoaxAnd some places where they don't see other races and they think the world is all white.
I have one white guy friend who's from Utah, niloloko namin sya that diversity in Utah is Male and Female hehehe. The place where he grew up walang asian or african-american.
There are areas in Utah where there aren't Asians or African-Americans. But, most of the state should be used to seeing Native-Americans because Utah is Paiute Indian country much like Nevada.Originally Posted by cardo
Edit: The western part of Utah is Paiute territory while the eastern part is Ute Indian country, hence Utah.

actually its not weird... baka local celeb of some sort or kahit ordinary people lang... i think kahit nga establishments you have to ask for permission before taking pics. kasi yun sa mga tao maraming taong kumukuha ng random candid shots tapos photoshop or kahit hindi na tapos post sa net with captions and instant laugh trip na...
Iba po sa resto, private property yun. Josh was on the freeway! yun lang say ng blonde it's her city. ehehehe kaw kasi josh di u nagpaalam to take pix in "her city" u little brown brutha u.
Yung pinsan ko nag-exchange student sa isang small town sa Nevada. I forgot the name pero pop. 5,000. Tanong sa kanya (in all innocence) "From the Philippines? Do you live in a treehouse?" ehehe.![]()

There aren't that many towns in Nevada that have a population of 5000 or greater. I grew up in Nevada (at least since 1971). So, I'm quite familiar with the state. Among the small towns with a population of 5000 or more are:
Fallon (my hometown), Elko, Mesquite.... The rest are suburbs of either Reno or Las Vegas.
Among them (small towns mentioned), Fallon would have the largest (and only) Pinoy population because of the Naval Air Station there.
Pinoys were far and few in NV until recently when large numbers started moving to Reno and Las Vegas. It's good to see them... For a while, I completely forgot my Tagalog until I left the state and worked elsewhere where I met other Pinoys.

Sya lang ata Pinoy dun. Mga 5 yrs ago. Medyo 3 or 4 syllables yung name ng town. Pero mabait naman sila dun. Akala nila he knows kung fu.ehehehe
Hmmm. 4 syllables.... Winnemucca? Battle Mountain? Either one is buckaroo country far removed from the glitz of Reno or Vegas. Yerington's too small.... Tonopah, same. Carson City's too big.... I'd say Winnemucca. One thing about Nevada is that there are plenty of Indians there. So, the white folks there are used to seeing non-white folks. Because I grew up there and have the local accent, I'm often mistaken for an Indian.Originally Posted by flagg
It sounds a little like Yerington, pero hindi yun.
Back to the thread... kung take mo pix ng locals, say mo sa kanila "Me Indian? What it's cuz I'm colored right?" ehehehehe![]()
For those Pinoys contemplating moving to the US, try to move to states with large Asian populations or at least where there are Indians. You're less likely to be (racially) discriminated against......

Most Indians talk with the same accent as the caucasians which is what's considered the local accent. Of course, many of them can also talk in their tribal tongue. Don't try that "Me Indian" thing. You wouldn't fool anybody except yourself. Just talk normal to them like you would to another Pinoy except in english.Originally Posted by flagg
Concerning that blonde B**** in Kentucky... If that was me, I can handle myself. I can make myself disappear in a hurry should I need to. But, I'd be very careful about standing out, especially in that part of the United States. That region of the United States is not known for being very tolerant to other races. Kentucky, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, Missouri, West Virginia, Pennsylvania..... Lots of neo-Nazis and skinheads there. Knowing the history of Kentucky would probably help since Kentuckians in the early United States were Indian-fighters and many of their decendants pride themselves with the distinction that their ancestors had exterminated many Indians. That view extends to other races.
That lady may or may not have been racist. Just be aware that the cops there may not help you if they share her views. Most will help you. But, there are crooked cops here much like there in the Philippines.
Add: About that Stars and Bars. It looks nice and all. But I hope you know what it stands for, besides being a rebel flag. It's a hated symbol among African-Americans. Also, if a racist here caught you with it, you could get into a pile of hurt or worse...... Just be aware.....
