i just bought 2 used 2003 Macs from a friend abroad for employee use, mas productive pa emps ko, and napapanahon pa din technology. no spywares, no upgrades, no trojans/no viruses and best of all, worry-free hacking ng ibang "creative" ko employees. gets the job done faster too. no compatibility issues. everything works in synergy: dvd-rw ,wifi, bluetooth, imac software etc..

    Let's revive this thread....

Just curious, why is Edu Manzano so motivated in catching all these pirated wares from everyone? I mean the persistency, consistency, vigilence, etc of their raids from day to day, firm to firm, shop to shop, etc is really something at odds with the usual abundance of ninas kugon mentality, white elephant projects, etc that pervades most of this country. Do they get a "cut" or some kind of finder's fee for each PC confiscated?

If they don't do their jobs, people say they're lazy, ningas kugon, wasting tax payers' money. If they do their jobs, they are accused of having a 'cut' or finder's fee.

He is simply doing his job, plain and simple.

It also doesn't hurt that part of the "penalty fee" goes to the department.

Anyway, this wasn't any different from years back when laser disc rentals were all in the rage and all the discs for rent were required to be registered and "stickered" by a government regulatory body known as VRB. And it was an open secret that whoever headed that department was pocketing a portion of the "fees" his department was getting.

I'm not accusing him of anything. I'm just curious and somewhat amazed by their tenacity and extreme motivation to get the job done. I want to know what is making them conduct this anti piracy drive so persistently? [This is the part where the *thought* of grease money comes in. And it can't be helped, after all, not only are we living in a country run by a very corrupt gov't but where corruption permeates in all levels of society]. They got results and the job done. This is unlike, the other law enforcement agencies in the Philippines or any other major projects (NAIA 3, Broadband [ZTE], North Rail, South Rail, etc...) .

We know BSA is the one bankrolling all of these operations and crackdowns. No one cares how much BSA spends on these things, until the BSA members (Microsoft, Adobe, Autodesk, etc...) starts passing the cost to their customers.

Why do you think legally local purchased software like MS Office, Photoshop and Auto-Cad costs so much?

beware guys...nasa raiding mode uli itong nbi-bsa (especially autodesk, makers of autocad)...notwithstanding the financial crises, unemployment, lay-offs...

IMO, it's a marketing ploy since mediation may end up in the accused committing to buy the expensive licensed softwares in exchange to the cheaper PCs they confiscated & dropping a case against them...

Tanong ko lang, are confiscated PCs with deleted pirated or unlicensed softwares, though detected by BSAs hi-tech gadgets, acceptable evidence in court?...any I.P. attorney in the house?...
