September 14th, 2012 09:15 AM #49Just a heads-up to those considering buying the iPhone 5 in the US/Canada.
The model that will be sold there is the A1428, which supports only LTE bands 4 and 17 (used by US/Canada).
The model that will be sold in Europe/Asia/Australia is the A1429, which supports only LTE bands 1, 3, and 5.
Locally, Smart's LTE uses band 3.
This means if you buy an iPhone 5 from the US, you most likely won't be able to use its LTE functions here and other parts of the worlds. But 2G/3G functions should pose no problems, especially calling/texting.
For frequent travelers, especially those who shuttle back and forth between PH and USA, this means you will have to prioritize a location and choose the appropriate model.
