IP5's A6 processor is not based on ARM Cortex A15 as initially assumed, but a custom Apple core apparently to improve battery life even with the increase in performance
AnandTech - The iPhone 5's A6 SoC: Not A15 or A9, a Custom Apple Core InsteadWhen Apple announced the iPhone 5, Phil Schiller officially announced what had leaked several days earlier: the phone is powered by Apple's new A6 SoC.
As always, Apple didn't announce clock speeds, CPU microarchitecture, memory bandwidth or GPU details. It did however give us an indication of expected CPU performance:
Prior to the announcement we speculated the iPhone 5's SoC would simply be a higher clocked version of the 32nm A5r2 used in the iPad 2,4. After all, Apple seems to like saving major architecture shifts for the iPad.
However, just prior to the announcement I received some information pointing to a move away from the ARM Cortex A9 used in the A5. Given Apple's reliance on fully licensed ARM cores in the past, the expected performance gains and unpublishable information that started all of this I concluded Apple's A6 SoC likely featured two ARM Cortex A15 cores.
It turns out I was wrong. But pleasantly surprised.
The A6 is the first Apple SoC to use its own ARMv7 based processor design. The CPU core(s) aren't based on a vanilla A9 or A15 design from ARM IP, but instead are something of Apple's own creation.
panis ang quad core ni s3
The first iPhone 5 reviews have lifted, confirming the leaked Geekbench data we saw in our earlier post. Apple's A6 appears to feature two custom ARM cores running at up to 1GHz. A new datapoint comes courtesy of our own Brian Klug who's currently visiting LG in Seoul, South Korea. He ran into Vincent Nguyen of Slashgear fame, who kindly let him run SunSpider 0.9.1 on Vincent's iPhone 5 review sample. The score? 914.7ms.
SunSpider is quickly outlasting its welcome as a smartphone benchmark, but it does do a great job of highlighting issues with the Cortex A9's memory interface. Intel originally hinted at issues in the A9's memory interface as being why Atom was able to so easily outperform other ARM based SoCs in SunSpider. As we surmised in our A6 Geekbench post, it looks like Apple specifically targeted improvements in the memory subsystem when designing the A6's CPU cores. The result is the fastest SunSpider test we've ever recorded on a smartphone - faster even than Intel's Atom Z2460.
This doesn't tell us much about the A6's architecture other than it's likely got a better cache/memory interface than ARM's Cortex A9. What we really need is for someone to port SPECint to iOS...
Mas mabilis yung S3 when using Android Jellybean. Lamang ang IP5 sa S3 pag Android ICS.
Magaling ang Apple. Period.Apple is a religionHey, nobody's questioning Apple's ability to milk sheep.![]()

Yeah in our family almost all of us are apple users, my dad sports an IPhone and mbpro ako naman Iphone and iPad combo ( and also my wife with her iPhone and MBA,. The best thing about apple is di mo na kelang an iboot at I shutdown, pagising sa umaga, open Lang, work, then close the smart over or LCD screen, tapos continue work ulit and so on so forth, no unbearable heat, tapos long battery life.
Kita nyo posting ko dito sa forum Kung ano hawak ko for the moment na device, post away lang dito sa Tsikot , lahat auto-log on.
And also lahat auto notify - FB, twitter, Skype, yahoomail, gmail, hotmail, messenger, even ensogo and groupon. Naka-monitor ako kagad coz always on Smart bro ako eh sa iPad. sa twitter naman, pag may bago promo Adidas, Nike, Pal, cebupac, notified kagad ako whether iPhone or iPad,
My IPhone and iPad are synced via ICloud. If a change a contact, calendar, or add a todo list sa iPhone, automatic updated na iPad ko. If I take a photo sa iPhone, Ganun din labas sa photo stream sa iPad ko. If I download a photo sa safari sa iPad, ilang minutes Lang updated na din ang IPhone ko with the same photo download.
Eto forum runner and Tapatalk, bilis ko magbrowse ng forums minus the pops-up and slowness of browsers. philstar, abs can, cnn, Wikipedia, med encyclopedia and even some hd cable channels nood Lang or basa lang, I even get notified of news. Sa Newstand, I just download a copy of any popular magazine ngaun, alas get the electronic copy, no need to go to stores. online payment of bills, lahat halos ng Bangko ngaun may iPhone app, and secured pa coz its apple.
Those who say may virus ang apple,eh pano kayo di ma-virus naka-jailbreak kayo, once you jailbreak, inalter nyo na pinakaroot operating system nya, who knows yan mga redsnow na yan yan pa maglagay ng worms or backdoor.

Is the A6 CPU a Dual core or a Quad core?
http://www.engadget.com/2012/09/18/a...hone-5-review/
The heart of the iPhone 5 is the new A6 processor, a chip that Apple wasn't too keen to describe other than it being "twice as fast" as the last-gen A5 and "22 percent smaller." Thankfully, we have ways -- namely, Geekbench, which identifies this as a dual-core 1.05GHz processor paired with 1GB of RAM.
The iPhone 5 is a significant improvement over the iPhone 4S in nearly every regard, and in those areas that didn't see an upgrade over its predecessor -- camera, storage capacity -- one could make a strong case that the iPhone 4S was already ahead of the curve. Every area, that is, except for the OS. If anything, it's the operating system here that's beginning to feel a bit dated and beginning to show its age.
Still, the iPhone 5 absolutely shines. Pick your benchmark and you'll find Apple's thin new weapon sitting at or near the top. Will it convince you to give up your Android or Windows Phone ways and join the iOS side? Maybe, maybe not. Will it wow you? Hold it in your hand -- you might be surprised. For the iOS faithful this is a no-brainer upgrade. This is without a doubt the best iPhone yet. This is a hallmark of design. This is the one you've been waiting for.
Galing ko ba mag-market convinced na convinced ka ah. Btw, pc corner in Gilmore closed down, most shops in Gilmore are in danger of having a lot of inventory pero walang Benta. The assembled Pc days are over.
Mas mura pa' magka-iPad kesa mag assemble ka ng Pc ngaun.
And also, notice the malls ngaun with free wifi like galleria, Megamall, Ayala, lagi puno yun mga mall benches, tignan nyo nakaupo eithe clutching IPhone or IPad, nag surf ng libre.
Eto pala isang advantage ng IOS bec of its state of the art hardware, madali ang handshaking signals nila with mall wifi. Na-try ko e72, lumia and even my bro's s3, ayan komonek sa public wifi pag puno na. But apple, even the iPod, it connects, maganda ang software handshaking ng apple

Find a spot boybi. Laptop easily connects cause malaki ang antenna nyan. iPhone and iPad have smaller range and also sa iPhone kalaban pa Nya ang cellphone signal. Eh Lalo naman Nokia and other cheap phones, talaga ng wala lang, ano wifi chip ba naka-ka bit dun class c, class b. sa wifi chips kase may class din yan, and apple installs the best chips.
sa galleria alam ko kung ang San ang pinaka-the best spots even in Glorietta and greenbelt
Dun pa Lang sa design ng Samsung galaxy s3 eh talo na sa antenna, the iPhone materials used it Hindi Lang pang aesthetics, it doubles as antenna, kaya kits nyo Hindi plasticky ang feel, unlike the samsungs parang brick game na nabibili sa divisoria.
A lot of people don't know this, kasi lagi specs and on paper Lang sila Kung tumingin for comparo, pero yan Samsung it's just a 20k toy. No wonder, ang lakas ng depreciation nyan. Old galaxies are peddling at 5k or less Lang sa sulit.
