MANILA - Military putschists turned party-list lawmakers in the Magdalo group today claimed that some P40 million was supposedly spent to finance the armed conflict launched by some Moro National Liberation Front fighters in Zamboanga.

Pressed for more details and names, Magdalo representatives Gary Alejano and Francisco Acedillo turned tight-lipped and said they are asking the authorities to look into the matter.

"(This is raw information given to me by some MNLF not involved in Zamboanga. Sabi nila they don't know issue sa Zamboanga. May tao nagbigay ng P40 million to some commanders in Zamboanga para gawin itong kaguluhan na ito," Alejano said.

He said the allegations are a challenge to the present administration to investigate the issue.

He also said that during the previous administration, some "diversions" were created to shift the focus away from issues of corruption.

"Sa dating admin, pag may malaking issues may diversion. Pwede nating sabihin na financier might come from people involved in the [Priority Development Assistance Fund] scam. Di malayo this is a destabilization move against the government," he said.
