October 23rd, 2020 09:22 AM #2001Most likely coming from the camp of democrats...
John Piper is not endorsing anyone.
With a cheerful smile, I will explain to my unbelieving neighbor why my allegiance to Jesus set me at odds with death — death by abortion and death by arrogance. I will take him to Psalm 139 and Romans 1. And if he is willing, I will show him how abortion and arrogance can be forgiven because of Christ (Ephesians 1:7). And I will invite him to become an exile — to have a kingdom that will never be shaken, not even when America is a footnote in the archives of the new creation.
some comments from his statement...
I’m honestly a bit confused by this article... is Piper saying a Christian cannot vote for a sinner? So we can’t vote for anyone? Or is he saying we can’t vote for someone whose words are those of a sinner? So we can’t vote for anyone? Or we can’t vote for someone whose actions are those of a sinner? So we can’t vote for anyone? If Jesus we’re running my voting decision would be simple, sadly He is not. Arrogance is also one of my least favorite attributes in a person. BUT. I will choose an arrogant candidate 1000% of the time over a timid one giving a peace sign with one hand and holding a murdered baby in the other. I honestly cannot even fathom any other option.
This is difficult for me to understand. Just because one candidate/party is trying to present itself as gentle does not mean that they will not gently lead us over a cliff. Satan is deceptive, and those are the tactics I would expect him to use. Therefore, I cannot understand how you can support someone who is likely to lead our country into socialism, increased societal numbness to sin through the enactment of and/or repeal of laws related to them, and probable attacks on our Constitutional freedoms.
No one is without sin-NO ONE-so we would therefore have no leaders at all if that were the standard. I urge you to examine your Old Testament. Where are the leaders without flaws or sin? Yes, we would hope that we could have an unflawed candidate, but in the meantime I will choose a man/party who hasn’t already made it very clear that their agenda is a clear and present danger not only to this United States but to our Church as well. It saddens me that your article seems to urge Christians not to vote.
John, we're not voting for a savior, or even someone that you will have dinner with. We are voting for someone who more clearly intends to uphold the constitution of this great country, and protect the rights of our people to speak and worship freely, among other extremely important rights ... paramount among them being the right to life. You're voting for the lesser of the evils ... this is and will always be the way - Jesus is not on the ballot.

He said it so in the article that he is not endorsing but he also said that the article will give a glimpse of how he will vote.
Everyone knows that means he is NOT voting for Trump.

I wonder why Trump's favorite source of intelligence didn't run the story.... considering both Fox news and NYP are owned by Murdoch. Doubting the credibility of Rudy Guiliani and Steve Bannon?
