Bangko Sentral keeps interest rates steady as inflation cools | ABS-CBN News

MANILA -- The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas on Thursday kept borrowing costs unchanged as expected, after inflation eased further from near 10-year highs in 2018.

The overnight borrowing rate stayed at 4.75 percent after the Monetary Board's first policy meeting for the year. It raised the benchmark by 175 basis points last year.

if inflation stays tame, the next thing BSP will do is cut banks' RRR (the amount banks are required to hold in reserve)

na-pause ung RRR cuts last year dahil sa tumataas na inflation

    -

when banks are required to hold less money in reserve that means they can lend out more money

Does it mean, less RRR less interest rates or it has nothing to do with interest rates the banks can offer?

Who said dead tycoon leaves no problem....

    19feb3-Battle royal looms over mogul’s estate – ManilaMail.com

He was also into auto, property development, power generation and insurance. As a young entrepreneur who had experienced difficulty borrowing from a bank, he decided to put up his own. That bank is now one of the country’s largest and most trusted.

lower RRR means banks can free up more funds for loans rather than holding in reserve

interest rates is a different BSP tool

i think wala coz the bank is a publicly listed company run by professional managers

the quarrel over inheritance shouldn't have an effect on day-to-day operations of the bank
