OIC. People are just buying the basic of the basics. Instead of dalawang ulam (meat/fish+gulay), isang ulam or no ulam at all.

Obama, a prisoner of the ENVIRONMENTAL LEFT, rejected the Keystone XL pipeline project

environmentalists campaigned strongly against the Keystone XL pipeline which will transport oil from Canada to Cushing, Oklahoma then from Cushing to the Gulf Coast

environmentalists are against the "dirty" oil produced from Alberta tar sands

now that US gas prices are above $4/gallon (high gas prices in an election year) Obama is giving in

UPDATE 2-Obama to push US agencies on south Keystone line | Reuters

WASHINGTON, March 21 (Reuters) - President Barack Obama will send a memo to federal agencies on Thursday directing them to prioritize permitting for TransCanada's southern leg of the Keystone oil pipeline, a senior White House official said on Wednesday.

Facing a barrage of Republican criticism over high gasoline prices during the election year, Obama will visit Cushing, Oklahoma, on Thursday to promote his energy policies, which include support for the southern leg of the pipeline.
the lower half of the Keystone pipeline project will transport the persistent high inventory of crude stored in Cushing, Oklahoma to refineries in the Gulf Coast

oil produced in Canada, North Dakota, Montana go to Cushing and gets stored there

a lot of oil flows into Cushing but couldnt flow out fast enough coz there's lack of pipeline capacity out of Cushing (there's the Seaway pipeline but it flows in the opposite direction but there's plan for flow reversal)

they use rail to transport oil out of Cushing but you can only put so much oil in rail cars

coz of that logistic problem refineries in the Gulf coast have to buy oil elsewhere which is more expensive (Brent benchmarked)

Obama is pressured. he could lose the election if US gas prices stay above $4

Obama has to abandon his environmental leftist ideology if he wants to win

Traffic Advisory: The useless pro-poor group Kadamay will conduct street protest against recent oil price increases tomorrow. They'll attempt to block the north bound traffic along EDSA at North Triangle -Trinoma. Avoid the area.

We're all reeling from the increases in oil prices. PUV groups go on strike. And to appease them, gov't is using our taxes to provide them "assistance". Pantawid Pasada or as this writer puts it, "CCT": Cash for criminals and transgressors

    Some excerpts:
Most taxpayers would agree that public money is well spent for transport terminals, road signages and painted lanes, computerized traffic signals and unified citation and ticketing systems. For the recipients of the Pantawid Pasada, given their blatant disregard for anything that imposes discipline, order and safety, unfortunately, these serve no purpose whatsoever.

See how we’ve spent good money for road widening and multilane avenues just so these can be turned into permanent jeepney terminals, garages and motor pools on the first three lanes while reserving the centermost lane for discharging passengers on-the-go.

Count the millions we spend on tree planting and beautification programs so that Pantawid Pasada beneficiaries can turn these into curbside toilets to relieve both bladder and bowels on-the-spot.

How much have we squandered for street-lighting systems so that jeepney drivers can recklessly barrel through at night without switching on headlights, albeit disco lights flicker within their cab?

How much is spent for waiting sheds that these crooks and transgressors consider as government housing programs and personal lounges?

Add up the bill. As it is, haven’t we spent enough for this undisciplined sector?

    speculators reduce long positions

Oil eases below $123 after first-quarter rally | Reuters

Brent has fallen from its 2012 high of $128.40 reached on March 1, and analysts said there were signs of waning investor enthusiasm. The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission said on Friday speculators trimmed net long U.S. crude and options positions in the week to March 27.
