that is the best thing to do under the circumstances, but most of the main characters in this sad incident are already talking to the media, except General Purisima because he is rightly advised that everything he would say could be used against him later in the right forum. many cases decided by the supreme court that the bill of rights are there against governmental intrusion, so whatever you admit to the media (although they are often called the fourth estate but they are never part of the government), it can be used against you and you cannot successfully raise the right against self-incrimination defense. another thing, whatever you say to the media if it is contrary to what say in your sworn statement (you need sworn statement in court or quasi - court) can used to impeach your credibility. But then again, it is damn if you do and damn if you don't because if you don't talk to the media it will be interpreted that you're hiding something, and, sometimes, perception is dangerous than reality.

Agree.,- real tricky situation,- a classic Catch22.... especially in this age of free flowing information,- everywhere....

The STAR reported today that according to Malacañang insiders, Aquino had insisted on delivering another national televised address today to accept full responsibility for the Mamasapano incident.

If this is true, at lumabas sa Board of Inquiry, sa mata ng mga mamamayan lalo maiipit si Pnoy. Mahirap ang naging kalagayan ni Pnoy at that time na nagkakabakbakan na ang SAF at MILF, sabi nga naging silent ang room... BBL or SAF men (AFP reinforcement), this applies the corporate saying "better to have an imperfect decision on Monday than a perfect decision on Friday", you just have to stand for your decision and damage control later.

That's how irresponsible our media is. They keep on preempting and guessing everything and then give an unnamed source.

And while at it, a lot had been comparing today's situation and situations decades ago. iba ang media noon at ngayon. iba ang flow of info noon at ngayon. Ngayon, mautot lang, kalat na gad sa bung mundo!
