The economy was in tatters (brink of collapse)..when marcos took the helm the phil economy was only 2nd to japan by 1986 we are 2nd to bottom (sick man of asia). By 1986 marcos was old and sickly..marcos doesnt want to relinquish power except to his chosen one which is his son..the son was raw too young to govern at that time

After marcos ouster the phil economy grew..sadly at a much faster rate the phil population grew as well

With more people to feed and unabated corruption..it may seem that way EDSA a so called FAILURE

but ey were still a republic with good or much better credit standing than during marcos. That showed the extent of damage marcos has done to our democratic institution by overstaying in power by 12 years. Thats 3 4 year term he stole from the other would be leaders of this country

For the loyalist marcos is a blessing to the phil..for me hes the exact opposite because he didnt put the nation first..he made himself rich more than his nation (kasabay ng pagyaman ni marcos ang paghirap ng pilipinas). Yes he built infrastructure but made himself rich in the process unlike lee kwan yu who made his nation richer before himself

The institutions are weak only because a handful of presidents put their country first

So is EDSA is a failure? Its NOT coz if we continue with marcos the nation wouldnt have flourished..there will be no LIBIS..no ORTIGAS CTR..no BONIFACIO GLOBAL CITY..foreign investors stayed away. The only automobile company that stayed to operate in the country was mitsubishi motors

EDSA gave others the opportunity to manage the country..rightly or wrongly..whats left to do is to do the right thing. Make philippines better for the future generation by curbing CORRUPTION

after all the philippines is a wonderful place to live & die (our graves will always be remembered by our relatives come nov1)
