Duterte believed that the military would eventually get to fall in love with their China-made weapons after using it extensively on the field. He said the only reason Filipino soldiers prefer weapons from the United States was because these were the only weapons they have used in training and in the battlefield. The Philippines has a mutual defence treaty with the United States and the country has long relied on US-supplied arms.

“It’s all good but hindi lang tayo kasi sanay ‘cause we’ve been used to made in USA,” said Duterte.

These China mades M-4s were probably also offered before via purchase/bidding process but were rejected.. the AFP went for US made Bushmaster M-4.... Problem now with those donations they don't include warranty and after sales service...Hehehe.

Thatsbthe problem. Duterte wants to hand them out to the troops already engaged in the fighting. Even the weapons and vehicles we "bought" still had to undergo testing and qualification before being accepted and distributed. We already know Chinese-quality. Not shooting straight is one thing, what if these blow up in our soldiers faces?

So if our military follow the proper protocol and not the bold way of shortcutting manner of the current leadership then this move of china wont be useful in the marawi conflict

Besides our military isnt in dire need of rudimentary equipments like a rifles and ammos. They need advanced military hardwares like flying tanks that can hover and shoot it out with the radicals from a safe distance

It's funny, the guy has been going great lengths to endear himself with his military, then he throws them a curveball right where it really counts, handing them weapons they weren't trained with in basic. i hope we don't end up with an Vietnam-M16 situation in the field.
