The guy is grasping at straws because he has realized he is way over his head.

If he can just reel in his hubris and kill his stupid urge to deviate from his speech/es (w/c is siguro naman well thought out by his underlings) things would be easier for the president and perhaps for us too

AFAIK, the CIA is not into that kind of business anymore. Intelligence gathering is a critical aspect in the world today and since there's not much intelligence to be gathered from here nowadays, they're probably elsewhere...

On management of critics, IMO if he assesses and levels his foreign policy appropriately, channels his iron hand in a constructive way to pressing matters (Abu Sayyaf, traffic discipline, poverty programs, etc.) and gives good direction on economic/budget matters, that will address most of the moderate critics.
