April 25th, 2012 03:54 PM #31the teachings of the Old Testament: our God or the supreme being or the almighty is all-powerful and therefore, we must all fear him and worship him. wag nyo kasi i-limit ang pagiging atheist jnyo juust bec. you read the bible and found inconsistencies and then refute him.
picture yourself during the Columbus or Magellan era, tiga-Europe ka then punta ka dito sa Asia and Americas, you find a world so beautiful and yet so different from your own. it's tropical, it's scenic, it's just not dark and gray Europe and then you'll begin to wonder, wala ba supreme being that designed all of these. it's just so illogical just to leave it by chance.
now picture yourself in a Star Trek era exploration, atheist ka na. man invented a spaceship that can travel at the speed of light. all things about Gods of the earth wala na sa psyche mo kasi naka-kakatravel ka out of our solar system. and then you go visit other solar systems and galaxies, will you feel the same thing when you see other worlds/systems entirely different from your own, and will you wonder na meron invisible hand/creator than designed all of these. kasi para hindi katanggap-tanggap na random chance lang yun. it's so damned fascination/beautiful to look at.

Don't picture God as the one depicted in our present religion. he is our image and likeness but he does not look like us. he may look like a cosmic energy or maybe a sun or a star that gives life to a solar system. we will never know at least not in our generation or maybe a thousand generations after us. but try to access than life energy that you have within and you will know that he is there ...
the vindictive God of the Old Testament is true. that is the true God, a God that is capable of wiping us out in at the snap of his fingers (although hold that thought bec. he doesn't have a finger) if we don't acknowledge him.
the symbolism of Jesus dying on the Cross to sacrifice himself for our sins is just God or the Universal supreme being telling us that he understands us and we are important to him. He humbled himself before us, he went out of his way to look like us and even died for us as sacrifice (bec. that is the only we can comprehend him) to show us that we are his most important creation.
if you look at the universe or even our present solar system, it's just another jungle out there. we can easily be wiped out by a single meteor or comet or even a sudden increase in temperature of the sun. but it doesn't happen bec. again we are IMPORTANT TO HIM. he only asks for our loyalty and of course patience, bec. ayaw din yan makiaalam sa course of our history and our development. he wants us to explore all his creations and mature accordingly. so siguro, if ever comes a time for Mars Disneyland, hindi na sa time natin yun, maybe a 100 years pa in the future. but not being able to experience that does not give us an excuse to not believe in him. our duty is to make the next generation and the generation after them to believe in him so that we can stay the course of his plan, and that is to explore everything that he has created .

If you were in Columbus or Magellan era and you went to Asia, it would be one of two purposes. Trade of spices and/or porcelain or conquering "primitive" tribes and claiming their land, gold and whatever else is valuable for the king and/or queen of your sponsor. Of course, they also sent priests with them so they would "convert" the natives deeper in the unknown country so they would be easier to control once the european settlers (land grabber essentially) would reach them. Along the way, the europeans would introduce plagues and other pests/vermin to the native inhabitants which would decimate the population or worst, wide them out totally in a few generations.
History is only written by the victors.

Is a "god" necessary to appreciate art and beauty?... No, of course not!
For all the billions of stars out there, to assume that we are the only intelligent life in the universe because of a "God"... what makes us so special? If God is a perfect being and God made us in his image, then we are we so flawed in so many ways?

believers have an answer for that
Man was created to be perfect... to live forever in the Garden of Eden
Adam and Eve were given free will and they chose to eat the forbidden fruit which caused them to fall. they became mortal. imperfect
one thing i learned about arguing with believers is never ask them those "if God is perfect then why..." questions. like if God is perfect and all powerful why didnt God just destroy Satan? they always have answers for questions like that
get believers out of their comfort zone

just my cents' sabi ng kakilala ko na isang theologian yung four angels na tinutukoy e yung BIG FOUR noong World War I, na sina David Lloyd George, Vittorio Emanuele Orlando, Georges Clemenceau and Woodrow Wilson who create the treaty of versailes (ver Si) ewan ko lang rin marami kasi interpretation dyan, btw, yung "winds" na tinutukoy e yung "WAR", yung four winds naman na tinutukoy na pinigilan e yung German, Russian, Ottoman, and Austro-Hungarian empires or pagwawakas ng apat na imperyong ito, ang galing nga e, sakto dun sa pagkakainterpret niya. not quite sure, wala akong masyadong alam sa history e,

lahat ng era meron interpretation
sa Gulf War 1.0 (Saddam annexing Kuwait) may preachers nagsabi Armageddon na daw yan
so ano na?
yan ang problema pag masyado fanatic. lahat ng nangyayari sa mundo may meaning. nabasa kasi nila sa bible ganito ganyan. so when they watch the news or read the papers lahat may kahulugan
Buhay na buhay ang BGC this evening. Bukas halos lahat ng restaurants. Sabi pa nung isang cashier...
