4H on NLEX????
Better have your front differential and transfer case checked!
The Montero is a part-time 4x4, just like most hard-core offroad vehicles. But unlike the high end Land Cruisers or Land Rovers, it has no center differential.
Thus, the 4H and 4L is only designed to be run on mud or slippery surfaces. Running it on a pavement, even when wet, at 4H will cause "binding". Prolonged us will break your front differential and/or transfer case.
I suggest you read your manual again on how to properly use your vehicle.

Super select has nothing to do with it. It simply means that you can engage 4x4 without stopping when running fast on rough or slippery surfaces.
Are we talking of the same local Montero model? The local model does not have full-time 4-wheel drive. The mere fact that it has 4H is an indication of that. That is why you have a selector lever or switch for 2H, 4H, or 4L. Pag full-time 4-wheel drive, walang kang selector for 2H kasi naka full-time ka na nga, eh. So you only have High or Low.
The only reason your front differential or transfer case did not break is because you may be generally travelling in a straight line (as indicated by your 140 kph speed). But do it in a curve or zigzag road, and they will surely give.
Anyway, just want to help. So it's your own look out if you won't take it.
