If you were going to buy a new luxury SUV (>2.0 million), what are the factors about the vehicle that would be most important to you and would have large influences on your purchase decision?
thanks!

February 20th, 2006 02:35 PM #2hi marvs long time no see ah...
1. Space - at least 7 seater and can hold a cargo for 2 families
2. Comfort - a 4/5 hour drive should be easy
3. High Tech - GPS/DVD/Variable or Adjustable Height chuvaness ek ek
4. Grunt - no SUV over 2M be underpowered
that being said a perfect candidate would be a
TOYOTA LANDCRUISER 100 and LANDROVER RANGE ROVER ( if you want it to push it to another level)

hmm...parang dinaanan ko yata ito ah. eto real-life experience ko:
Price - not very important, as long as it stays within a range
Power - extremely important. an SUV is a compromise for me because i'm a sportscar guy who also has a family and home that necessitates hauling big stuff/lotsa people. my SUV needs to go fast
Handling/Driving Dynamics - extremely important. see Power above
Cargo Capacity - very important, although 3rd row seat is not a must
Aesthetics - important. car must look good to make up for the driver's not-so-good looks :D
Luxury Features - important. an SUV in this price range must coddle you like the best luxury car would.
Fuel Economy - somewhat important, but is sacrificed because of the most important categories
Offroad Capability - not important. i need an SUV for cargo and hauling capability, not to go offroad
Brand Name - not important. in fact, if i can get a better SUV for less money because its badge is less prestigious, then so much the better
other factors considered - must fit in my garage. must be drivable by a 5'3" woman who gets nervous easily. must have storage space for a purse (yes, just shoot me now). abundance of high-tech features/gadgets to keep your mind at play and distract you from the road, hehe
Finalists for me were the Infiniti FX45, VW Touareg and BMW X5. the Egg won.

generous seating dimensions, (better than usual) leather interior, less or no plastics, low road noise, nice set of wheels
power features, memory settings, adjustable pedals
active and passive safety features, perhaps the latest available
tech goodies - nav, dvd, rear camera, bluetooth, etc.
in short, as much features as possible

since its a luxury suv, i guess i can only buy that if i'm rich and i am a VIP.
so my primary consideration are:
a. space;
b. bullet proof protection.

- 'Manageable' exterior dimensions, unprecedented interior space (think an SUV version of the Mini)
- Durable engine with huge amounts of torque for going up steep roads (especially since I live in the mountains), with respectable fuel mileage
- Off-road capability
- Superior ride height and ground clearance
- Superlative creature comforts and active/passive safety mechanisms
- One fine entertainment system
- Advanced technological array, such as: satellite communication; GPS navigation; 24-hour link to vehicle-related, miscellaneous and emergency services (much like OnStar); on-board self-diagnostics; intelligent telematics system that will wirelessly communicate vehicle data direct to the manufacturer's distributor network, to tailor-fit maintenance schedules and future upgrades.Last edited by Bogeyman; February 20th, 2006 at 04:53 PM.
