NP300 was the original name for South African Nissan double cab pickups, i think starting from the oldest d21.
Navara name came from France after a small town there near the assembly plant. Name was adapted in Europe, Australia during the D22-hardbody era and also called Frontier in the US.
When the D40 came, halo-halo na pangalan nila, NP300 in SA, Navara in AU and EU, Frontier-Navara in US, Ph &rest of asia. D40 naming were carried-over in the D23. IIRC the D22 hardbody scored somewhere 3-4stars in US NHSTA circa 2000's.
Older cars will never be safer in today's crash tests. Its so happen that Nissan still manufacture those old models in specific markets for their needs. Even the Patrol GU is sold B'New in MidEast and as single-cab pickup in NZ/SA. In Mexico the Tsuru(Ph's LEC Sentra) is being sold B'New as taxi fleet.
So far ok naman yung 163hp navara namin. 7AT EL Calibre. It's not really a fast truck. Mas mabilis pa 2009 sorento namin na VGT. Pero very comfortable.
Observation ko lang is that audible ang turbo sa cabin. I can hear whirring noise. And the engine note is quite gruff.
But for 1.1m, napakasulit. No regrets buying this pickup truck. I hope walang issues in the future.
And yeah the aircon is super cold!
Turning radius is also big.

I just got mine recently, a black 4x2 AT. Thank you God.
I agree on most points bro. Having driven an Everest (old and new), as well as some other old cars and vans, I'd say that it is quite peppy and relatively raring to go. I only need to step very lightly on the throttle for the vehicle to get going, so it has more than enough power from a full stop and more power than you will need while in motion. The NHV, I'd say is very good. The steering is a bit on the heavy side, but is responsive enough for you to be in control of the truck. The airconditioning is superb. It tackles and handles any bumps and road imperfections with ease - the multi-link rear suspension works well.
There are blind spots caused by the large pillars, though, which makes parking and squeezing through narrow paths more difficult but the all-view monitor helps a lot especially when parking. Six people squeezed in when we drove the unit from the dealer (Nissan Commonwealth) to our place in Los Baņos, with not much problem in so far as space is concerned.
Over all, I am very happy with how the Navara performed while in traffic and on the highway. It is a great vehicle for a bit over 1.1M

Nothing beats driving a brand new car. And actually for 1.1m 7 speed at na.
As for fuel consumption, ilan kaya? Avg ko kasi nasa 6.1km per liter pero gridlock traffic. Di ko pa natry full tank one click method.
Agree ako na peppy yung engine. 400ish nm at 2000rpm is actually already a lot. Kaya sulit talaga at 1.1m at hindi cheap ang interior.

Magkano kaya aabutin ng repairs?
Might as well get a brand new engine no?
Sabi sa FB cleaning and drying the air filter got it started.
Ewan ko lang if may long term damage.
I'm searching for the best financing deal for a navara 4X2 EL. So far, nissan commonwealth offered 99k all in * 21500 monthly X 5 years; is this already a good deal? Any other dealer recommendations in metro manila I should consider? Your inputs will be highly appreciated. Thanks!
I just got mine there last Saturday (black unit - agent: Pao) although via bank PO. That is already a good offer. Nissan Commonwealth gave me the best offer out of all dealers from Laguna to Manila.
Aside from the usual cash discount, I also had rear parking sensors installed as well as rain gutters on top of the usual freebies. Good luck.
Hello Navara np300 owners
I'm planning to get by december a Navara El Calibre AT sports edition and have been doing research. I like the price and the look of the sports edition. But i got a nagging question? Has therr been an issue on the timing chain breaking of ng mga yd25ddti engines dito sa Philippines? I plan to keep the navara for a long time so its a major concern for me ...
