^^The long-awaited redesign is finally here. And this one came with some muscle, too. The larger dimensions are certainly most welcome but it will be interesting to see what the e-Power version will be like. And what it will be priced like.

Considering how late we were to the Kicks party compared to the West, I expect our local variant to come out in a year - probably to be launched in MIAS 2025 (baka magkasabay pa launch niyan with an all-new Mazda CX-5).

Won't the more upright (higher frontal area?) styling be detrimental to the e-power's fuel efficiency ?

it will but it might not be too noticeable and even if you always try to use it in pure EV mode, the range is to small to be relevant and the gas engine would automatically kick in to apply power to charge the battery.

lowering the drag coefficient in some cars, SUV (ICE or Hybrids) wont affect the fuel consumption as much.
its different when it comes to Sport cars and EV's.

The current gen Kicks e-power is basically a compromise, as the body+chassis design came first before the e-power tech was available. The compromise made is that the space for the spare tire is sacrificed for the e-power batt and components.

The next one SHOULD have e-power built into the design; so I fully expect a spare tire (probably a donut and not a 5th wheel).

There is no spare tire to reduce weight and increase fuel efficiency ... for marketing and regulation purposes ...
