Kabibile kolang po nang 1997 Cefiro and its going to be my project car..pero wala po akong Idea kung san ko mabible lahat . i want it to start with Grill,spoiler lip,body kit,
saka the size of mags na it will look nice, and how low can i drop the car? if anyone know a web site po or kung saan ko mabibile ung crome grill..at mga idea..thanks

Here in UAE this model is badge as Maxima, with VQ30 engine (3.0L)

Mags?..17"-19" pwede dyan, 235/45/17 or 235/40/18 sa 19" di ko alam, medyo mabigat na kasi bulsa..hehe mine is 17" and 1.25" drop lang daily use kasi

Grill, DIY lang ginawa ko, cut the middle and lagay ng screen..naka-tyempo ng smoke na headlight..then HID kit.

Hi guys, I need your guys help. I have a Ford Probe but has useless engine, and my trusted mechanic replaced it with a Nissan VQ20 engine, it is running good but the only problem is Speedometer Tachometer & oil gauge dont work (although the electricians were able to get the fuel to work).

I was told that i need a the whole set of Nissan Cefiro's gauge since that is the engine installed in the car, but it apparently doesnt fit, so to cut the story short:
I need to know where we could get like an aftermarket or custom speedometer and tachometer that is sure to work with a Nissan Cefiro engine, so i could get them to work and would be better if you know any shops that has specialists that can do that. Thanks in advance!

wow, how'd your mechanic manage that? anlayo ng ford sa nissan, hehehe!

i think the gauges for both cars are controlled by ECU inputs na... they may no longer be mechanical... that said, your mechanic may have failed to put in a compatible wiring harness that would allow the ecu to interface with your instruments... which is why they wont work anymore.

perhaps your best bet is to buy aftermarket gauges na lang and connect them to the ecu somehow (bec. i doubt if you can find a harness without an engine, and even if you do, they may not plug into the instrumentation of your ford), one after the other or rig them up to the appropriate sensors in the VQ.

so 1 gauge for the RPM, one for odometer, etc etc.

maybe swertihin ka and you get a cefiro instrument cluster... if you do, it probably won't fit so i suggest you modify your dash na lang. i suggest walking around in capalangan, apalit pampanga for this, instead of banawe.

any nissan 97-99 cefiro owners out there?

i'd like to buy a decent model, but i know next to nothing about this model except that it looks good and rides well for its age. i'm 30... and i've been driving since i was 14... in all that time our family has owned M/T cars, so, medyo pagod nako sa m/t. i'd also like to try the cefiro's famed A/T naman for a change...

any model quirks or idiosyncrasies? what do i look out for sa 2nd hand car shops? how's the undercarriage components? durable ba? engine? durable? fuel efficiency? decent for its power?

coming from a honda crv (which i'm selling btw), 2.0 engine fuel consumptions won't be new to me, but still, if someone can say na its got decent mileage (say, 7-10 km/liter) then all the better

I'm also planning to buy one... 97-99 model also... I'm just waiting for some posts here for commentaries.. kaso mukhang nasa fairways pa o nasa boardroom pa mga may-ari ng cefiro.. no time pa para mag-post dito... hehe

We used to own one... never had any problems with it since we sold it when it was 5 years old (with 70,000kms on the odo); just about the time before any major problems should come out.

Things to check on the Cefiro:
- oil leaks (normally these start to show after around 80,000kms)
- idling
- engine knock (the VQ20 engine requires at least 95 octane fuel), if you have engine knock problems even with the proper fuel, you may have to change the knock sensor which may set you back around 6K to 8K.

The suspension is very straightforward to repair and aftermarket replacement parts are readily available. The only problem is if you get a unit with an engine that had overheated and not been cared for, this will give you a lot of headaches; if you get a well maintained unit, then it's be a pretty straightforward car to maintain.

Fuel mileage in the city is at the 6-6.5km/L range with the a/t version. Best units to scout around for is the '98 to early 2000 models which were still based on the Japan spec Cefiro (the ones with the glass headlights).

There's one for sale on nissanbayan.com now, looks good.

If you do a search on the old threads you'll find a good number of info on the A32 Cefiro as well.
