Finally had the alternator replaced. It was only registering 12V. Got a rebuilt one from Nis-Parts. Brand is Narida and matches the amp output of the existing one. Wala palang 120 amp alternator for the Cefiro, only 110amps. The original is 110amps. Anyway, I hope the rebuilt one is ok. Output is now 13.4 to 13.7 volts. PHP 5,800 for the alternator, with installation plus PHP 700 Got those hood dampers too, PHP 1,800/pair.

Hi guys, I need your guys help. I have a Ford Probe but has useless engine, and my trusted mechanic replaced it with a Nissan VQ20 engine, it is running good but the only problem is Speedometer Tachometer & oil gauge dont work (although the electricians were able to get the fuel to work).

I was told that i need a the whole set of Nissan Cefiro's gauge since that is the engine installed in the car, but it apparently doesnt fit, so to cut the story short:
I need to know where we could get like an aftermarket or custom speedometer and tachometer that is sure to work with a Nissan Cefiro engine, so i could get them to work
and would be better if you know any shops that has specialists that can do that. Thanks in advance!

wow, how'd your mechanic manage that? anlayo ng ford sa nissan, hehehe!

i think the gauges for both cars are controlled by ECU inputs na... they may no longer be mechanical... that said, your mechanic may have failed to put in a compatible wiring harness that would allow the ecu to interface with your instruments... which is why they wont work anymore.

perhaps your best bet is to buy aftermarket gauges na lang and connect them to the ecu somehow (bec. i doubt if you can find a harness without an engine, and even if you do, they may not plug into the instrumentation of your ford), one after the other or rig them up to the appropriate sensors in the VQ.

so 1 gauge for the RPM, one for odometer, etc etc.

maybe swertihin ka and you get a cefiro instrument cluster... if you do, it probably won't fit so i suggest you modify your dash na lang. i suggest walking around in capalangan, apalit pampanga for this, instead of banawe.

    or,

    guys , need your help...

My barkada bought a nissan cefiro 97, he has been using this for a month then suddenly the car is stalling. Like the car suddenly stops in the highway.

They had it checked in Nissan, seems like the key is not anymore the original one. (at least thatis what Nissan is advising, that is to buy a new key from them and have it reprogrammed)

Recently an electrical person checked it and advised that the ECU should be restarted then put in an original key (from Nissan) then car will work (even with the non orig key). Is this really going to resolve the problem?

What can you suggest guys, need your help. thanks alot.

As of today, the car still wont start, mar redondo pero di tumutuloy. help guys on this. thanks

im not sure if there really is an aftermarket key with IC in it. if its not the original key, his car wont even start in the first place. for the fact that he used it for a month without any problem, i dont see any problem with the key. removing just one terminal from the car battery for at least 30 minutes, will reset the ECU. i am not sure what the guy means by restarting. it does not work like a PC in that manner. check the MAF sensor for continuity. if the sensor is broken, the car will not start, AFAIK. check also the battery, if its more than two years, pacheck na nya. pacheck na rin yung alternator if its giving out enough at 12.8V minimum as stated above. next check the body/starter ground. if the transmission has been recently serviced, the transmission/starter has lost potent grounding (this happened to me, hard starting, mga 3 redondo bago mag start. mas mahirap pa magstart pag mainit na yung engine. fixed it by routing a 8gauge wire from negative battery terminal to the transmission housing.) my guess is that there is definitely wrong with the fuel system as it stalls during operation, might also be a malfunctioning fuel pump. ganito na lang, hingi sya ng agreement sa CASA, pag di nila nagawa by replacing with the CASA key, then they should reimbursed to your friend the full amount paid.

Thanks for this mga sirs. Cefiro was recently checked by the electrician, had the wiring going to the fuel tank check. using his tool, parang screw driver na may umiilaw, seems like wala daw kuryente dumadaloy papunta sa fuel tank.(wala ilaw eh). what the electrician is saying is that, because of the non orig key daw, the computer box cuts off the fuel for hte car to stop (feature yata ng anti theft to)

Anyone here can suggest a good electrician? Parang 2nd opinion lang. or has anyone had any problem with the car key of cefiro, na nawala original then it had to be replaced by the original one from casa. Just wanna know your experience on this as the CASE charges alot. thanks in advance

*matrixx most probably there is something wrong with the immobilizer, be it the micro chip inside the key or the ECU itself. best is have the dealer diagnose it.
