I think what most moto riders lack here is education. Most Philippine motorists ride cars since way back and its just recently that motorcycles became popular. Dapat talaga alam ang traffic and road rules.
Yesterday lang may nakaaway ako nagmomotor coz he used the bicycle lane to get past me while I turn right. Sa inis ko talagang pininahan ko. Binabaan ko. Sabi niya tumabi na nga daw siya. I shouted at him telling him that he is in a bicycle lane and the right lane is not used for overtaking....
Agree that the chance of getting injured riding a 2 wheeler is greater than the chance of being hurt in a 4 wheeler. That's why education and info campaign is very important...
In moderate traffic on a two way street I'm cruising at around 30-40Kph when I notice a deep pothole. Vehicles to my left are approaching from the opposite direction. A quick glance at my mirrors tells me a motorcycle is approaching from the right, so swerving to avoid it is out of the question. I can't brake abruptly, because if I do, I might get rear-ended by the tailgating car behind me. No choice but to run over the pothole, braking as hard as I can without brake testing the car behind me.
The result is always broken bearings and leaking shock absorbers. I'm not mad or anything, its just frustrating that this happens to me all the time![]()
the windshield washer/sprinkler is not a mod, it serves a specific purpose. now if the alignment goes bad, then it has to be corrected. but this example is a very poor one.
the thing that irks me the most is the way a lot of bikers drive. it's as if there's no tomorrow. they endanger not only themselves but also those around them.
kapag new:
COMMON UNDER-BONES/SCOOTERS, motorcycle-- P2500 lang ang all-in down, less than 5000/mo at 60 months cedula, barangay clearance at proof of income lang kailangan...
car/vehicle - 20% minimum down(roughly 100,000+ charges-lto,chattel,compre).. pinakamurang nakita ko is the 20,000 promo down ng kia rio way back a year ago...
ano mas madaling i-aquire in common-juan, even the "ogags" of the society
pag used: motorcycle parin mura i-aquire!
sorry for these, nakakainis kasi.. i AM A VICTIM OF A RECKLESS RIDER, NA BUMUNGO NA SA AKIN, AKO PA DINEMANDA NG "RECKLESS IMPRUDENCE RESULTING TO DAMAGE TO PROPERTY"....KASI AS A CAGER, KASALANAN KO DAW!
Sirs,
See there are two idiots here, the tail-gating cager and the rider trying to overtake by squeezing in on the wrong side (that is if there was only one lane). But if it were two lanes and the rider was on the right-side lane, that does not make the rider an idiot, and that leaves the idiot tailgater on a cage.
Well said po yung earlier post, its not the cager or the rider, its what they do that annoys. Noisy exhaust pipes and loud sound systems can be found both on bikes or to cars...![]()
^Wag mo bungguin. Pitikin mo lang. hehehe....
*pasensya na...can't help it.
EDUCATE them.
kaso problema yung ahensya na dapat makatulong walang pangil.
admit or deny, ang technique dito satin to educate, penalty ng violation.
Loud mufflers, improperly projected beam ng headlight, reckless driving, drunk driving and etc... both cagers and riders are guilty of these...
It is good that tsikoteers can share their ideas here and take up matters of common concern, and I believe that this topic about motorcycle riders should be taken seriously and cautiously without offending the riders who might read some sweeping statements uttered here.
There are several sites like this one for the riders and let us be aware of their perspective about cagers.
One sensible observation of the riders is when a cager stops and open his door without due precautions if there are incoming vehicles or pedestrians and unfortunately end up causing damage or injury...
Another is when a cager intentionally closes the bumper gaps during tight traffic situation to the detriment of the riders who may use such gaps to get past...
When I was still active in a rider club, aside from joining several races and out of town trips, our club endeavored to educate riders and share safe riding tips. Unfortunately, this effort cannot cover the entire motorcycle-riding public... I agree to what most of us here feels that there is indeed lack of education among the motorists in general.
Let me share my observation, the difference between a cager and a cager who is at the same time a rider is that the latter can anticipate what the rider intends to do... "is that rider going to overtake?", "is that rider going to yield?"
Last point mga sirs at madames, cagers, pedestrians or kahit kapwa rider badtrip sa pressure ng bike mufflers lalo na yung oversized. Feeling mo may bumubuga sa mukha mo at amoy gas pa... lalo na yung two-stroke dahil may kasamang usok at langis... But thats the way some bike mufflers are designed... i think we can do very little if not nothing about that but to avoid the direction of the exhaust...
Just this morning there was a jeepney in front of me which was letting some passengers get off so I signaled I was overtaking on my left.
Ito nga pala point ko: I was positioned more than a car away in front of the first motorcycle and I clearly signaled my intention to overtake pero ayaw nya, una daw sya.
Isn't it a traffic violation to overtake an overtaking vehicle?
I just always remind myself that it's better to drive defensively and avoid hassles. Wala naman pambayad mga yan pag tinamaan ka, tatakbuhan ka lang (this has happened to me at least twice before).
