From driving cars to riding bikes and back to driving cars... been there, done that. I've seen both sides of the coin and both have their own share of bad apples.

I started riding a bike in 2001 (been driving since the late 80s). Back then, the riding community was better and I have this sensation of exclusivity when I'm riding one. Fast-forward several years later, cheap China bikes came to our shores allowing every Tom, Dick, and Harry the possibility to own their own bike... the Filipino dream. And then it happened... Making the bikes dirt-cheap made almost everyone a "badass", spawning silly-looking underbones/scooters, illegal drag-racing, "jolog" riders, etc. crawling out of the woodwork.

Now, I seldom touch my bikes. If I do, it's just to warm up the engine and to charge up the battery. The excitement that I once have on riding my bike has dwindled down due mainly because of the tough environment I have to go through in my everyday commute; bad weather, discourteous drivers/riders and countless other things.

So between riding a bike and driving a car? I choose the latter for a safer and more comfortable daily commute. I'll reserve my "iron butt" for long trips out of the Metro.

I don't see the difference between an idiot on a motorcycle and an idiot in a car. We should hate what the guy does wrong on the road, not what his ride is.

i agree, and chances are, if he is an idiot on a bike, he will also be an idiot on a car.

i feel exactly the same as oj88. i used to ride before. parang pareho kami ng edad ni oj88 hehe. too bad i had to sell my bike kasi hindi ko na nga ginagamit

madaming pasaway na nagmomotor, kanina lang sa C5, meron tricycle, hehe tapos ambagal

meron din motor na nakagitna, kala mo SUV ang dala, tapos ang bagal naman,

dapat magsama sama sa moon, ung mga motor! sana wag na sila makisabay sa mga 4 wheeled vehicles.. laki nilang perwisyo di lang nila alam..

well, cager-mods: mostly pangit lang at maingay...pero dont have a direct impact on us pedestrians!

unlike nga pag nasampal ka ng rider na lintek kung manigit sa crowd, tapos ang tambucho direcho sa mukha mo anf hampas ng exhaust, then i-rerevolusyon pa......

kung di lang ako kakalabas lang ng our lady of perpetual sa redemptorist street help tuwing wednesday, makakatikim ng maaanghang na mura mga yan!

anong "cager mod" ang nakakabigay ng ganyang inconvenience?

But all it takes is a "kiss" from the idiot in a car for that idiot in a bike to fall. Now, I'm not saying that there less or more idiots to both vehicles but a biker is less protected than a caged, as you might want to call it, driver. This is the point why I said that an idiot on a bike is like courting death. Around a week ago I was on the way home along Rodriguez Pasig. There was traffic all the way to Marcos Highway. The reason, a biker on the opposite lane tried to beat a Land Cruiser making a left towards Marcos Highway. The LC has clearly acrossed the center line. The result, bike took a spill, biker injured.
I have noting against biker, I have quite a number of friends, relatives and officemates that are rider.

Mahaba pasensiya ko sa mga riders. I don't mind if they hug the fast lane while driving slow, heck even if they lined up and hug the three lane C5 road, they can do that all day. What I hate are those that cut, darts out from the center barrier gap and face slapping mufflers. Part na ng buhay natin ang mga riders. Hopefully everybody stays safe.

It's a bad thing that most of riders never ever realized this. I'm a rider too, but realizing how unsafe a bike is compared to a car, I take extra caution whenever I have to ride a bike. Crashing a car is one thing, crashing on a bike is a whole other story.

Isa pa pala ito. one time i was about to pick up my wife and was about to make a right sa side street and it rained kaya basa yun street. what i heard was skidding metal. pag silip ko sa right side mirror nakita ko motor na nakatumba siguro he was trying to pass me sa right eh my signal light was on kaya I didn't bother to stop, sorry, pero it was a slow skid and di naman niya ako tinamaan. kahit tinamaan niya ako i wouldn't stop din siguro baka perahan pa ako. wag lang yun alam ko na na injured siya o pumasok siya sa ilalim ng car ko.

di directly affected ng weather, controlled temperature.
comfortable upuan, pwede pa ihiga slightly pag di umaandar ang traffic.
Manood ng tv/dvd kung meron kang ganitong accessory.

iba sa mga nagmomotor, nakabilad sa araw o lublub ang paa sa baha.
nakakangawit pag matagal at pag responsible magsuot ng riding gears, jacket o kapote, pag nakahinto ng matagal, pagpapawisan ka pa.

mas madali intindihin ang both sides pag naranasan mo na pareho.
