Also applies to people with off-road "inspired" trucks/SUVs who never even let their rigs leave the pavement or even go through a pothole.

March 5th, 2019 09:47 AM #3187Guilty ako sa Hilux ko diyan hahaha!
For 9 long years ba namang gawing "submarine" every rainy season yung kotse ko studying sa "University of Flood" eh. I told myself, when I buy a new vehicle, kailangan di ko na iintindihin ang baha.
===
Since naranasan ko for the longest time to struggle through floodwaters, mindful ako sa smaller vehicles on flooded streets. Di tulad ng mga ibang may SUV/off-road pickup/bus & truck na parang nananadya pang pa-alunan yung mga ingat na ingat tumirik. They're no different from the arrogant JERKS who splash pedestrians in a downpour just because they're safe and dry in a vehicle.

March 5th, 2019 11:30 AM #3190Statue? Baka ibang school yun. Yung main feature sa amin is an arch na replica of the old gate back when it was still in Intramuros, and our main building that's like fortress with a central tower. If you're referring to yung mga staute ng mga santo on the battlements, I think they're pointing everywhere else outside the university hahaha~!
Dun kasi, they'd never let you graduate without getting "baptised" (sa baha!)

I got the Hilux to reward myself for 13 years hard work (college, med proper & residency). Before that I was driving old 70's era vintage cars- not because we lacked the means, but because my folks believed you had to "earn it, to deserve it"*.
Aside from the fender flares (so the tires won't sling mud/rocks over the side and other cars) and the lifted suspension, wala nang "cheesy" mods like stickers, additional lights, winch, or shovel & jerry canWala ding "M.D. on call do not delay"
Mataas lang siya na pickup with slightly larger tires (it would look "anemic/bowlegged" if I kept it on the stock wheels).

*That's the same reason why maingat ako sa vehicles ko (whether yung Hilux or my 'masa' mini hatchback). I worked hard for them. So yes, I slow down on potholes and speed bumps too. They may not be "high end" cars, but I bought them on my own in cash, without financing either from family or the bank.
Because pinoy mentality. Not surprising.
