Had the same experience here. I had posted the issues regarding the steering assembly damage of my strada in the "07 Strada 1st drive" sticky thread. I am pasting it here for your info:

While I was initially satisfied with the performance of my 07 strada, recent events have made me think twice about the over-all reliability and durability of my ride. After having carefully driven my rig for only 4,380 km on well paved roads, I felt an unusual click whenever I turned the steering wheel and a never-ending and annoying squeak whenever I hit minor bumps.

Wasting no time, I drove back to Manila and had my 5k PMS at the casa and to have the problematic "click" and squeaking diagnosed. After a full day's work the mechanics at the Casa dutifuly removed the squeek via basic lubrication. However, I was informed that the whole steering assembly was damaged and had to be changed! When I inquired on the possible reasons for the damage, the chief mechanic could only offer me a clueless shrug. He told me that they are still learning to understand the quirks of the new Strada!

Unfortunately, the parts required were not on stock and had to be ordered. In the meantime I am on standby until such time that the case gives me a ring once the replacement parts arrive.

While everything is still under warranty, it begs me to think why such an critical part of the vehicle was easily damaged at this very early stage? I bought the Strada precisely because of its promised off-roadability and toughness compared to other vehicles. I had barely warmed my seat with my rig and I had not even visited any project site and this happens!

At this rate, I am verry worried of what comes next. Will my strada become a mere city driver and never get to taste the rural areas, just so that I prevent its further deterioration? I hope not because its such a waste of 1M spent for a lemon.

The people at the Casa have been very helpful so far. It has been a week and I am still waiting for their call. In the meantime the Strada sits forlornly at the garage while I use my sedan instead. The folks at the casa have told me that it is safe to use the rig at its present condition, however I dare not do so. The clicking sound is growing alarmingly stronger and you cannot be too sure, a catalclysmic event just might happen at the speeds that the strada is capable of.

I shall keep you posted on the developments on my problematic strada!

louchua, i posted that same question a while back and no one answered. mukhang wala pang nakakagawa.

I texted Mickey (of Mickey's Autosounds) to ask kung kaya setup-an yung Strada and he said pwede raw lagyan sa ilalim ng rear seats. Pero looking at the Strada parang hindi kaya.

Anyways, you might want to check this out:

Talked to a friend of mine who owns a shop and this particular sub was also his suggestion, meron din daw kenwood and some taiwan brand na shallow type.. may nilagyan na siya strada dito sa lucena quezon, sa ilalim daw ng front passenger seat nilagay. Kaya lang para sakin kung sa Pioneer, HU lang pero sa speakers/subs im not really a fan.. i would prefer US brands when it comes to speakers. Thats why I want to know kung may other options pa, pero ayaw ko kasi ng madaming gagalawin, as much as possible stealth lang yung setup.

Anyway Padoods, ano balak mo set-up?

na ka install kami ng DLS 6" sub under the front seats, but we had to elevate the seats about half inch for the bos to fit. the sound was ok more bass than the original set-up. also the taiwan self powered sub one in each seat. ok rin but not as loud as in other pick-ups that have 8 to 10" subs. walang choice walang space.

Encountered the same problem around 2 months ago when my Strada was at 7000kms. I could feel / hear a slight rattle on the steering wheel when driving over roughly paved / uneven concrete surface (such as C-5).

According to the service adviser : "may play ang spline" in the steering shaft/assembly.

The whole steering assembly was replaced under warranty overnight and no problems encountered so far. My unit is nearing 10,000 km and will be serviced next week.

Seems like I was one of the first to encounter this problem, since when I brought it in it was the first time they heard a report of this nature. It took Mitsubishi Plant around 2 weeks before forwarding the new assembly to the dealer.
