    hi guys,

someone is selling me his '95 galant for 135k, open the hood and it's 16 valve, manual transmission. any comment on this?

value for money, gas consumption, power, need to know/repairs, etc.

thanks for any input. it will help me in deciding whether to buy it or not.

haven't got the chance to test drive it kasi nagmamadali ako, i just drove by at that moment to pick something.

Hi Guys, newbie here. I need some advice about purchasing a 2nd hand galant 90-92 model. I've been looking around some ads and a lot of them start from 75k-120k price range. Now, my question is...what are the pros and cons into buying these units for the stated price? and if i was buying one for lets say, 90k how much more will i need to shell out to get my galant into top shape. I wont be using the car that much since im based overseas so i dont really mind the gas consuming issue. but, i do like the comfort and power that the car can provide and the "porma" aspect especially if its set up with mags and that kinda stuff. Also, when it comes to parts & accessories are they easy to acquire?? I know theres quite a bit here but thanks in advance to those willing to answer my questions and queries.

    Peace!!

It not worth swaping a 4G63 MIVEC to a 6G galant I assume. If you want, try swapping it with a 4G63T that came from a VR4 RS. That you dont have to worry about engine mount as well as some adjustments and alignment. Imagine also the cost of performing the swap but if you have the extra money to spend and patience to do it, thats all up to you. My advice dont go that route.
    Thanks a lot

My name is Cale and I havent been here for a long time due to work constraints but any how yeah I own a 1992 Galant VR4. The tag on my 92 Galant VR4 is 421/1000. I bought this car almost 2 or 3 years ago as a project car due to its potential. It was in a bad shape when I bought it and I have to spend few thousand dollars to what it is right now. There are a lot of upgrades I did to this car. I recently pick up this car from the body shop today 5 Jun 09 for some serious body work. I swap the old 4G63T engine and dropped a slightly used 4G63T from a VR4 RS. Rebuilt the transmission because its grinding. Replace the clutch to ACT 2600 as well as bearing and disc with stainless steel clutch hydraulic line. Replaced 4 axles since it is an all wheel drive four wheel steering car. Changed all the brake pads with metal master, Stainless braded brake lines. All 4 shocks were changed to KYB GR2, never ending wheel alignment and camber correction due to negative camber. Magnecor 8.5 mm wires as well as NGK BPES7 plugs. Thats all I can think off right now and its more to come.
At the moment this is a sleeper 4 door sedan car with a mighty beast underneath the hood. Once in a while I bring this car out for a spin and you gonna love the torque and power it has.
I will be bias but the 91 and 92 Galant VR4 were the best galants ever made by mitsubishi and I wont even turn my head for an evo passing down the street.
    Take care guys!

Good to see na dumadami na ang galant enthusiasts dito. correct ko lang po na ang ang 94-97 model galants have 2 variants, Galant Super Saloon which is 16valve, 4cylinder 2.0 engine. Other one is Galant VR V6-6cylinder with 24valve 2.0 engine.
Hindi po VR4 or VR6 as others usually say.

you can visit mymitsuph.com and look for the 7G Thread forum, or 6G Packers forum...andyan po ang mga Galant lovers

sir, get the top of the line 1991-1992 Galant GTi. Its already EFI and is powered by 145HP 16V DOHC engine. It should cost around 130K to 150K for a properly maintained stock GTi unit.
If you see one selling for 100K-120K, expect to allot about 20-30K for repairs plus an additional 20K-25K more for possible body/paint repairs.

Once you have gotten your 6G, join us at http://mymitsuph.com :D

Thanks for your reply sir. I was actually leaning towards the GTI model but maintenance costs, pricing and acquring parts was kinda worrying me. I dont mind the Super Saloon model though but i wasnt sure which one was better EFI or Carb? and how much should i expect to pay for a well maintained SS model since there are quite a few out there for less than the 100k mark.

    Thanks again!!

Finally, nakahanap narin ako ng galant thread. im planning to buy a 99 galant. thank you for all your inputs. sobrang nakakatulong. i have the money to buy a 2nd hand hindi ko lang alam kung kakayanin ang maintenance nito at pagpapaayos. mahal daw ang parts. Possible ba since injected siya e10 ang gas? para tipid? hehe.

Fuel injected better gas consumption and just generally better but more difficult and more expensive to maintain.
Carb. Easier and cheaper to maintain.

At least that is what a mechanic told me at kung siya daw, he would choose a carb (maybe it is really more practical or maybe he can't fix or can't afford to maintain an EFI).

Can you post a picture(or a link) of the 91-92 galant you refer to? Philippine cars are older models meaning a 91 galant here is a 1985-86 model in Japan and I am curious which one you are referring to as the best galant ever made.

    Thanks

Here in United States we go by the year when the car came out. My bias I'm referring to is the 6th Generation Galants particularly the VR-4's and those came out here in US between 1991 and 1992. The first link is where all the US 91-92 VR-4 (6th Gen) owners exchange and share ideas. And the second link is my 92 Galant VR4 tag 421/1000 when I first purchased it and before all the upgrades.1.* www.galantvr4.org 2.* http://s192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/CaleVR4/*

Hi guys! newbie here and my first time to own a galant. I just bought my galant last week and Im really happy with it. Although marami pa ako gusto madiscover sa kanya. Can somebody please tell me the beauty of galant super saloon 2.0 1991 model? pros and cons? Galing kasi ako sentra na lec ps and medyo matagal kame nag sama ng sentra ko kaya very little ang knowledge ko sa galant. by the way, I'm really new here in tsikot and i would really like to make friend with my fellow galant owners. Salamat po!

    welcome DDG79!

since you mentioned that you came from a Sentra LEC, which i presume is a very fuel efficient car, maninibago ka ngayon sa f/c ng Galant, lalo pa kung carb type yung nakuha mo..probably 5kms/L, kung EFi naman mga 6-7Km/L.

Maninibago ka rin sa size kase malapad yan compared sa LEC mo before.

pero in terms of power, sulit na sulit naman. Just keep it clean, walang masyadong bodykits..remember its a luxury car

Hey how are you? It depends which part or parts you need. There are a couple of places I go to. I spent countless hours in the junk yard trying to locate plastic accessories and moldings to save some money. I also went to a Mitsubishi Dealership and its expensive but if your friend knows anyone at the dealership he can get as much as 40% body shop discount. The third one is our website here in U.S. www.galantvr4.org and the last one is www.msrecycling.com.
    Thanks
