March 9th, 2010 08:10 AM #452sir easyman,
seems like you have resolved at least 2 issues on your ride.
i will be getting only the 4X2 so i will not have the Auto Climate control.
as far as the "thud" is concerned, what did C5 casa do to your ride? i hope they service my unit even if i plan to purchase it elsewhere.
thanks.

March 11th, 2010 10:16 PM #457I am a very satisfied owner of a one week old montero 4x2 A/T Gemstone gray mica. Superb riding comfort. mas maganda pa ride nya compared to my Honda CRV AWD A/T 2004 model, maybe due to the 17 inch tire.Problem lang nag bubbles na ang tint ko.

March 11th, 2010 10:36 PM #4583. backing up on an incline:
unlike other cars or SUVs, the montero sport does not come with Hill Start Assist, nor the Hill Descent control. instances where you feel like sliding down when you take your foot off the brakes in an attempt to step on the gas does happen in the Montero. Hill start assist and descent control is not a new technology as it has been around with Isuzu, Honda, Subaru. malas lang walang ganyan sa Montero.
the fix: Mitsubishi's advice is for us to use the handbrake!
4.the annoying loud thud:
this is what the service technicians call backlash. this is not unique to the montero. other diesel engines suffer also, though much much softer. unfortunately, it is so loud that rear passengers would sometimes think na "para raw nabangga" ---this came from the Service tech's mouth
the transmission, and power sent to the rear wheels is the culprit. as power is sent to the rear wheels, be it 4X4 or 4X2, this thud will always be there, if coming from an incline. medyo bitin yata ang traction when power is still being sent to the rear wheels. wala akong alam sa aspect na yan ng RWDs pero yan ang best explanation nila. or baka pinapasakay lang ako?
the fix: there isn't any!.....
Just remember that the Montero is a truck and that the manufacturers assume that the buyer already knows this fact before purchasing a unit. Otherwise, Mitsubishi also has a good line of car based SUV's and conventional cars.

sir otep,
thank you for your response to my thread.
my current rides: 2006 civic and a 2002 trooper. the trooper has had some issues, but my unit has so far survived it. no problems whatsoever. now, to stay on the topic, backlash is quite evident in diesel engines. i notice some degree of jerking everytime i put it in drive from neutral. i have lived with it for 8 years and i think i wont mind this in the montero. truck guys have a different nature, i suppose. i plan to keep the montero for as long as i can, even run it to the ground.
my 4X2 white MS will be released on monday after tinting the windows and windshield.
The assumption that the vehicle runs on the road, the ECU is more than likely a match. Try cleaning...
