*sir tom guts, thanks sa advice..
Diesel engine here in europe can easily reach 1 million mark w/o even changing piston rings. They use synthetic oil to achive this, cause they know what they are doing.Just do the math guys about this additional 50-500% i mentioned.![]()
Nothings wrong with our fuel in the philippines,in fact, its even better for injection pumps & injectors because fuel(diesel) there have better lubricity than european diesels.Besides fuel have nothing to do with the length of service of an engine. Its maintenance thats matters
- IMO higher quality fuels in europe does have an effect in the performance and longevity of the car. There is something wrong in our fuel here, because inferior quality of fuel produces more pollutants (we shoudl be eco-friendly) and soot that degrades the performance of engine oil. Esp. for those with egr installed.
its the use of mineral oil that will foul the EGR most thats why Scania highly recommend fully synthetic oil to there new diesel engines as they use EGR system to control emmission unlike Volvo that uses Urea for exhaust after treatmment.Normally,we can easily clean EGR.As with our fuel in our country, its not that dirty as what we think.JUst change your air filters religiosly.Dont run with dirty air filters as engine will emit black smoke because of richer air/fuel mixture. In additon, motor oil will be drawn up towards combustion chamber if the air filter is clogged as diesel engine have greater air suction compared to gas engine. You will consume more oil & fuel at the same time.
yes, plenty of them still exist but they are already rusty specially vans & pick-ups.Japanese cars are prone to rust.
Yes,they are still around with the old L300(exceed body),delica,L200 and pajeros(1st & 2nd gen). These old diesels are pretty much reliable. The new common rail diesels are very powerfull but the pump & injectors cost too much to replace.Besides, once they broke,no ordinary technician can fix it and parts are not available everywhere. The cleaner emmision is the main purpose for these engines as manufacturers need to comply EU & US standards.
good day gurus!
hope to have your comments on the ff:
1. mineral engine oil ba ang nakalagay sa engines ng mga new 2011 monty?
2. after 1K km, Casa recommends to use mineral oil muna. After 5K km, synthetic naman daw ang ipalit. is this the proper way of servicing the monty in terms of changing engine oil?
TIA!
up ko lang to mga ka-tsikoteers! any 4D56 engine owners
using other oil brands?

What we use in our Mitsubishi Spacegear 4D56 Turbo are:
>Martini Fully Synthetic Oils 5w-40 every 20,000km PMS
>Valvoline Fully Synthetic Oils 5w-40 every 10,000km PMS
>Mobil1 Delvac 15w-40 every 5000km PMS
we regularly have the car's pms every 5000kms and the car is not used daily kasi until now
56,+++kms palang ung spacegear though its a 98 model.![]()
chiefs how's the performance and "feel" in terms of using Mobil Delvac MX 15W-40 on your 4D56 engines? I might wanna try it out in the future as I'm having a hard time looking for Shell Helix diesel plus 10W-40 semi-synth (blue bottle)-bit by bit I think Shell is trying to phase it out due to their "repackaging thing" for their entire motor oil line up.![]()
Used this also for my L200 4x4 strada and advie. No prblem encountered and even if you change the oil at 7,500km, it seems the same performance pa rin with 5K interval. Change oil filter lang ako noon ha. API CI-4 compliant siya. It is that good IMO.
Nag-rerepack nga shell. Hirap hanapin yung pang-diesel.![]()
